The effects of MAPK activity on cell-cell adhesion during wound healing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
The mechanisms underlying collective migration, or the coordinated movement of a population of cells, are not well understood despite its ubiquitous nature. As a means to investigate collective migration, we consider a wound healing scenario in which a population of cells fills in the empty space left from a scratch wound.

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

COMPARATIVE-EVALUATION-OF-TWO-VIABILITY ASSAYS ON BIODEGRADABLE POLYMER FOAMS FOR POTENTIAL BONE REGENERATION

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Medical and Dental Education, 2014
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate comparatively the cytotoxicity of two foams prepared by phosphorylated cellulose and phosphorylated PVA using two common assays, MTT classic assay and Cell-titer blue assay.

A mathematical study of CD8+ T cell responses calibrated with human data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Complete understanding of the mechanisms regulating the proliferation and differentiation that takes place during human immune CD8+ T cell responses is still lacking. Human clinical data is usually limited to blood cell counts, yet the initiation of these responses occurs in the draining lymph nodes; antigen-specific effector and memory CD8+ T cells ...

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

CORELATIONS BETWEEN THE CLINICAL AND MORFOLOGICAL ASPECTS AND THE MOLECULAR MARKERS IN THE MALIGNANT TRANSFORMATION OF THE ORAL LEUKOPLAKIAS

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2016
The leukoplakia injuries represent the most frequent premalignant oral injuries. Their clinical and histopathological features are not always significant for the malignant transformation and, implicitly, for their diagnosis.

Illuminating T cell-dendritic cell interactions in vivo by FlAsHing antigens

open access: yeseLife
Delineating the complex network of interactions between antigen-specific T cells and antigen presenting cells (APCs) is crucial for effective precision therapies against cancer, chronic infections, and autoimmunity.

The Poisson Rain Tessellation Under Spatial Expansion and Temporal Transformation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
For cell-division processes in a window, Cowan introduced four selection rules and two division rules each of which stands for one cell-division model. One of these is the area-weighted in-cell model. In this model, each cell is selected for division with a probability that corresponds to the ratio between its area and the area of the whole window ...
