Characterizing effective auction mechanisms: insights from the 2007 TAC market design competition [PDF]
This paper analyzes the entrants to the 2007 TAC Market Design competition. It presents a classification of the entries to the competition, and uses this classification to compare these entries. The paper also attempts to relate market dynamics to the auction rules adopted by these entries and their adaptive strategies via a set of post-tournament ...

Research on Mechanical Characteristic of Micro-Nano Structure TaC Ceramic by Nanoindentation
Advanced Materials Research, 2015Micro-nanostructure tantalum carbide (TaC) ceramic was prepared on grey cast iron matrix by the combined process of casting and heat treatment. The theoretical foundation of the nanoindentation technique was introduced in detail, and hardness/modular–displacement curve was received from continuous stiffness measurement (CSM).

Consolidation and mechanical properties of hot pressed TaC-HfC-VC composites
Ceramics International, 2017Abstract The need to improve the extremely high melting temperature materials used in hypersonic applications, has led to the search for ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) such as TaC-based composites. In this study TaC-HfC-VC composites were prepared by hot pressing at 1700–2000 °C for 45 min under a uniaxial pressure of 40 MPa.

Abstract To further improve the mechanical properties of the Ti(C,N)-TiB2-Co cermets prepared by in-situ reaction hot pressing, the TaC and WC were added in Ti-C-BN-Co system. The effect of varying TaC/(TaC + WC) weight ratio on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the cermets was studied by scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction,

Microstructure and mechanical properties of the spark plasma sintered TaC/SiC composites
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2011Abstract TaC/SiC composites with 5–40 vol.% 6H–SiC were fabricated by spark plasma sintering at 1800 °C for 5 min. Effects of SiC concentrations on the densification, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the materials were investigated. The results showed the densification process of the TaC/SiC composites was composed of six sequent stages ...

Effects of TaC addition on microstructure and mechanical properties of SiBCN composite ceramics
Ceramics International, 2019Abstract In this work, SiBCN–TaC composite ceramics were prepared by a combination of mechanical alloying and reactive hot-pressing sintering techniques. The effects of TaC addition on microstructure, mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of the resulting composite ceramics were studied in detail. Results suggested that the as-sintered SiBCN–

Abstract TaC/SiC composites with 5 wt% SiC addition were densified by plasma-activated sintering (PAS) at 1500–1800 °C for 5 min under 30 MPa. The effects of plasma-activated sintering on microstructures, densification and mechanical properties of the composites were investigated. The results showed that TaC/SiC composites achieved a relative density

Role of Interfaces on Multi‐length Scale Wear Mechanics of TaC‐based Composites
Advanced Engineering Materials, 2017In the current work, contact‐mechanics at different length scale is utilized to correlate damage accumulation in TaC‐based composites. Upon synergistic reinforcement with silicon carbide (SiC) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), TaC has shown to reduce the wear rate from 10.5 × 10−7 to 4.1 × 10−7 mm3 N−1 m−1 upon fretting (micro‐wear) and from 8.0 to 2.7 mm3 ...
