The Natech risk associated to mining activity in Maramureş county, Romania [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Geografski Fakultet Univerziteta u Beogradu, 2015
The Maramureş County is well-known as a strongly influenced area by mining exploitation of non-ferrous ores. To assess the Natech risk associated to tailing ponds in relation to climatic conditions and in particular to the rainfall in the area, four ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Image analysis procedure for studying Back-Diffusion phenomena from low-permeability layers in laboratory tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this study, the long-term tailing derived from the storage process of contaminants in low-permeability zones is investigated. The release from these areas in the groundwater can be considered a long-term source that often undermines remediation ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

EKSTRAKSI MERKURI DARI LIMBAH PENGOLAHAN BIJIH EMAS MENGGUNAKAN TANAMAN AKAR WANGI (Vetiveria zizanioides L.) DENGAN PENAMBAHAN EDTA DAN KOMPOS

open access: yesJTSL (Jurnal Tanah dan Sumberdaya Lahan), 2018
One of mining activities in Sukabumi and Bogor is gold mining. This activity uses mercury amalgamation techniques that generate tailings containing mercury. The tailing that is commonly dischared to the environment can affect human healths. One method to

Effect of Self-Filtering Layer on Tailings–Steel Wire Mesh Interfacial Shearing Properties and Bearing Behavior of Drain Pipes

open access: yesBuildings
The drain pipe wrapped in steel wire mesh serves a dual purpose of drainage and reinforcement in tailings pond projects. The self-filtering layer that develops upstream of the steel wire mesh influences the reinforcement characteristics of the drainage ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.
