MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Study on permeability characteristics of tailings sand considering particle features

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The permeability of the grouting medium is a core parameter determining the grouting effect. To explore the grouting and cementation reinforcement technology for tailings dam faces and improve the toughness of tailings dams against overtopping floods, it

Duty of care applied to tailings operations

open access: yes, 2011
The ever increasing costs and risks associated with tailings facilities worldwide have led to the adoption of a Duty of Care in ensuring high standards of tailings operation.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Disposal of solid waste as building materials: A study on the mechanical and durability performance of concrete composed of gold tailings

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of gold tailings as an alternative to natural river sand for preparing concrete, to solve the problems of rapid increase in gold tailings and insufficient natural river sand stock.

Geotechnical risks related to tailings dam operations

open access: yes, 2011
Tailings dams are geotechnical structures that are increased in height with time. Several factors typical of tailings dams cause a higher risk of failure compared with other earth structures.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

The drained stacking of granular tailings : a disposal method for a low degree of saturation of the tailings mass

open access: yes, 2011
The method of tailings disposal, has a strong influence on the characteristics of the tailings mass within the reservoir and on the behaviour of the tailings dam.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Pig tail length is associated with the prevalence of tail malformations but not with inflammation of the tail

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research
Abstract Background Assuming that tail length is associated with the prevalence of tail biting, attempts are being made to shorten tails by genetic selection in order to avoid the painful procedure of docking. However, undesirable side effects such as kinky tails and inflammatory changes may occur.
