Distribution of Toxicity in Liver of Wild Pufferfish Takifugu rubripes

open access: yesShokuhin Eiseigaku Zasshi Journal of the Food Hygienic Society of Japan, 2013
Livers from wild pufferfish, Takifugu rubripes, can be described as having a smooth frontal side and an upper-region that is attached to the hepatic portal vein. Based on this description, the liver can be divided into 10 parts (L1-5 and R1-5), and in this work, the lethal potency of each part was determined by mouse bioassay. Among the raw livers from

Metabolism and pharmacokinetics of mebendazole in Japanese pufferfish (Takifugu rubripes)

Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A, 2022
As a typical and broad-spectrum benzimidazole, mebendazole (MBZ) has long been used in human and veterinary medicine to treat parasitic infestations, and is widely employed in the aquaculture of Japanese pufferfish (Takifugu rubripes). However, there have been no studies examining the pharmacokinetic characteristics of MBZ in Japanese pufferfish ...

Characterization of the pufferfish Takifugu rubripes apolipoprotein multigene family

Gene, 2005
We have characterized the apolipoprotein multigene family of the pufferfish Takifugu rubripes. The pufferfish mainly contains 28-kDa, 27-kDa, and 14-kDa apolipoproteins in its plasma and was designated apo-28 kDa, apo-27 kDa, and apo-14 kDa, respectively.

The plasmablast-like leukocyte in the kidney of fugu (Takifugu rubripes)

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2011
In teleosts, the kidney is the major immune organ. From the kidney of fugu (Takifugu rubripes), we isolated a unique leukocyte population. This population shows properties similar to those of mammalian plasmablasts. First, adherent cells expressing IgM protein on their surface were obtained from the fugu kidney.

Tetrodotoxin distribution in natural hybrids between the pufferfish species Takifugu rubripes and Takifugu porphyreus

Fisheries Science, 2018
Natural hybrids among pufferfishes belonging to the genus Takifugu have been reported occasionally, yet very little is known about their toxicity. To study the tetrodotoxin (TTX) distribution in the bodies of natural hybrids, 10 putative hybrids between Takifugu rubripes and Takifugu porphyreus, which differ in the toxicity of the skin (the former is ...
