From classical xenon fringes to hydrogen interferometry
A setup with three equally spaced transmission gratings can be described as a moiré deflectometer in the classical regime and as a Talbot–Lau interferometer in the quantum regime.

Matter-wave interference of a native polypeptide
Matter-wave interferometry of complex molecules is challenging due to difficulties in preparing and detecting molecular beams. Here the authors demonstrate quantum behavior of a polypeptide using matter-wave interference in an all-optical time-domain ...

An electron Talbot interferometer
The Talbot effect, in which a wave imprinted with transverse periodicity reconstructs itself at regular intervals, is a diffraction phenomenon that occurs in many physical systems. Here we present the first observation of the Talbot effect for electron de Broglie waves behind a nanofabricated transmission grating.

Correction for mechanical inaccuracies in a scanning Talbot-Lau interferometer
<p>Grating-based X-ray phase-contrast and in particular dark-field radiography are promising new imaging modalities for medical applications. Currently, the potential advantage of dark-field imaging in early-stage diagnosis of pulmonary diseases in humans is being investigated.

Fabrication of High‐Aspect Ratio Nanogratings for Phase‐Based X‐Ray Imaging
Phase‐based X‐ray imaging techniques achieve unmatched resolution for low‐Z objects but often rely on diffracting elements requiring challenging fabrication processes. Here, a key facile innovation to post‐metal assisted chemical etching drying makes submicron‐period gratings with a high aspect ratio (>40) feasible, being compatible with inexpensive ...

A Wigner Function Approach to Coherence in a Talbot-Lau Interferometer
Using a thermal gas, we model the signal of a trapped interferometer. This interferometer uses two short laser pulses, separated by time T, which act as a phase grating for the matter waves.
