Approximate Tandem Repeats Computation
Proceedings of the 2017 International Conference on Information Technology, 2017In this paper, we present a linear-time algorithm to compute approximate tandem repeat in genomic sequences with the Longest Previous non-overlapping Factor (LPnF) table. The LPnF table is related to a certain type of Ziv-Lempel factorization in text compression that is an essential element for the design of efficient algorithms on strings.

Short Tandem Repeats and Genetic Variation
2010Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are widely distributed in the human genome and although most SNPs are the result of independent point-mutations, there are exceptions. When studying distances between SNPs, a periodic pattern in the distance between pairs of identical SNPs has been found to be heavily correlated with periodicity in short tandem ...

Hirabayashi and Kasai (1993) proposed designating galectin subfamilies as proto-, tandem-repeat, and chimera- types based on their domain organization. The prototype galectins (galectin-1, -2, -5, -7, -10, -11, -13, -14, and -15) consist of a single CRD with a short N-terminal sequence and have been discussed in Chap.

Tandemly repeated sequences are ubiquitous components of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes. Renowned examples of tandem repeats (TR) include micro-satellites, mini-satellites, or satellite DNA, as well as tandemly repeated genes. The evolutionary event that giveq rise to tandem repeats, tandem duplication, is major force that drives the formation

Tandem repeat polymorphisms shape local adaptation
Trends in Ecology & EvolutionWithin widespread populations, efficient adaptation to local environmental conditions can be facilitated by abundant quantitative variation supplied by short tandem DNA repeats. The peculiar site-specific mutability of such repeats can provide populations with the functional equivalent of tuning knobs for adaptively adjusting quantitative trait values.
