Knockdown Resistance to DDT and Pyrethroids in the House Fly (Diptera: Muscidae): From Genetic Trait to Molecular Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Knockdown resistance to DDT and pyrethrins was the 1st insecticide resistance trait involving reduced target site sensitivity to be identified and isolated genetically.

Designing multifunctional chemical sensors using Ni and Cu doped carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate a "bottom up" approach to the computational design of a multifunctional chemical sensor. General techniques are employed for describing the adsorption coverage and resistance properties of the sensor based on density functional theory (DFT)

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Clerocidin selectively modifies the gyrase-DNA gate to induce irreversible and reversible DNA damage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Clerocidin (CL), a microbial diterpenoid, reacts with DNA via its epoxide group and stimulates DNA cleavage by type II DNA topoisomerases. The molecular basis of CL action is poorly understood.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Multiple target site resistance to glyphosate in junglerice (Echinochloa colona) lines from California orchards.

open access: yesPest Management Science, 2018
BACKGROUND In California specialty cropping systems such as vineyards and orchards, Echinochloa colona is present as a summer annual weed. It is able to germinate throughout the growing season whenever favorable conditions are present, and management ...

Confirmation and Characterization of the First Case of Acetolactate Synthase (ALS)-Inhibitor—Resistant Wild Buckwheat (Polygonum convolvulus L.) in the United States

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
Wild buckwheat (Polygonum convolvulus L.) is a problem weed and ALS-inhibitors (e.g., chlorsulfuron) are commonly used for its management. Recently, a population of wild buckwheat (KSW-R) uncontrolled with ALS-inhibitors was found in a wheat field in ...

Detection of accase target-site resistant Alopecurus myosuroides huds (black-grass) in Belgian populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Black-grass is a common grass weed, widely spread in Northern Europe and also in Belgium. For ages, it has been an increasing problem in industrial crops, especially winter cereals.

Allosteric inhibition enhances the efficacy of ABL kinase inhibitors to target unmutated BCR-ABL and BCR-ABL-T315I [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) acute lymphatic leukemia (Ph + ALL) are caused by the t(9;22), which fuses BCR to ABL resulting in deregulated ABL-tyrosine kinase activity.

Target Site Insensitivity Detection in Deltamethrin Resistant Culex pipiens Complex in Iran

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 2020
Background: Some mosquito species which belong to the Culex. pipiens complex are primary vectors for West Nile virus, Sindbis, Dirofilaria immitis, and many arboviruses. Knockdown resistance (kdr) mutations in the voltage-gated sodium channel (VGSC) gene of Cx.
