Humanin Mitigates Aβ‐Induced Retinal Pigment Epithelium Injury via AMPK‐Beclin1‐Dependent Mitophagy

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2026.
Humanin (HN) enhanced the clearance of Aβ‐accumulated mitochondria in the RPE while preserving retinal function and RPE barrier integrity. HN activated AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK), leading to phosphorylation of ULK1 and Beclin1, which promoted the interaction between Beclin1 and Parkin and their translocation to mitochondria.

EGR1 Mediates Ursodeoxycholic Acid‐Promoted Mitophagy to Prevent Postovulatory Aging of Porcine Oocytes

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2026.
This study delivers dual key advances: mechanistically, we uncover a novel role of EGR1 as a pivotal transcriptional regulator that bridges upstream gene expression dysregulation to downstream mitophagic decline in oocyte aging; and translationally, we validate the therapeutic potential of the clinical drug UDCA to counteract oocyte aging.

Variable electrophysiology before and after block of the two delayed rectifier potassium channels in groups of isolated rabbit ventricular cells

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 13, Page 3685-3705, July 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Between‐cell differences in ventricular cardiomyocyte action potential duration (APD) and responses to ion channel block may contribute to pro‐arrhythmic dispersion of myocardial repolarisation. This study quantifies between‐cell physiological and pharmacological variability in the rabbit left ventricle (LV) and uses ...

Genetic Parameters of Methane Emission, Feed Efficiency, Feeding Behaviour, and Growth Traits in Beef Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 4, Page 496-507, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Climate change has intensified the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane (CH4) from enteric fermentation. Genetic selection has emerged as a promising mitigation strategy; however, studies on Bos taurus indicus, especially Nellore cattle, remain limited.

Contribution of Fat Adjustment to Residual Feed Intake Estimation in Beef Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 4, Page 602-612, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Including fat thickness as a covariate in the regression model used to calculate residual feed intake (RFI) could help preserve carcass quality traits, such as marbling, flavour and juiciness, by accounting for variation in fat deposition.
