A taxoid from needles of himalayan Taxus baccata

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 1995
13-Acetyl-13-decinnamoyltaxchinin B, a taxoid having a rearranged 11(15 → 1)abeo-taxane skeleton, has been isolated from the needles of the Himalayan yew, Taxus baccata. The compound has not previously been encountered in nature.

Taxoid metabolism: Taxoid 14β-hydroxylase is a cytochrome P450-dependent monooxygenase

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2003
The production of the anticancer drug Taxol in Taxus (yew) cell cultures is often accompanied by the formation of side-route polyoxygenated taxoid metabolites bearing a 14beta-hydroxyl group. The recent acquisition of several new semisynthetic taxoid intermediates enabled the screening of a family of Taxus cytochrome P450 cDNA clones for the 14beta ...

The Taxoids

Drugs, 1998
Paclitaxel and docetaxel are 2 compounds from the new taxoid class of anti-cancer agents. Both drugs are very similar in preclinical activity, mechanism of action and spectrum of clinical activity. Some subtle differences in the intracellular retention of docetaxel may account for its lack of schedule-related myelosuppression and greater potency, and ...

Minor Taxoids from Taxus wallichiana

Journal of Natural Products, 1995
The needles of Taxus wallichiana afforded a new analogue of taxinine M [1a] and two derivatives of brevifoliol [2a, 3a]. The conformation of 3a was investigated by nmr spectroscopy with the aid of variable-temperature experiments and in situ reactions.
