Effects of the hydrophobicity of taxoids on their interaction with tubulin

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2000
Modifications of the hydrophobic character at the 7 and 10 positions of the taxoids greatly modified the effect of these drugs on the tubulin microtubule system. The presence of an alkyl chain at these positions decreased the activity while their corresponding more polar analogues restored the activity of these molecules.

Taxoids from the needles of the Canadian yew

Phytochemistry, 2000
Systematic characterization of the taxoids in the needles of Taxus canadensis led to the discovery of seven taxanes along with three known congeners. Their structures were rigorously established by spectroscopic methods as 15-benzoyl-10-deacetyl-2-debenzoyl-10-dehydro-abeo-baccat in III; 15-benzoyl-2-debenzoyl-7, 9-dideacetyl-abeo-baccatin VI; N-acetyl-

Taxoids

2000
Abstract A 70-year-old man was discovered to have melanoma of the right fifth toe. Following toe amputation, he was started on paclitaxel (250 mglm2 ) every 3 weeks, as part of a phase II clinical trial. He received 16 courses with clinical and radiographic disappearance of adenopathy.

Total synthesis of taxoids

2003
Introduction Taxoids are a family of diterpene alkaloids sharing a tricyclic taxane core (Figure 9.1A). The most well recognized member of the taxoid family is taxol (Figure 9.1B), a minor cytotoxic component isolated from yew bark (Wani et al., 1971).

Naturally occurring rearranged taxoids.

Planta medica, 2007
The rearranged taxoids have recently been reported from different Taxus species. The literature concerning the chemistry, biogenesis, and bioactivity of such compounds is reviewed.
