Taxonogenomics of Culturomica massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., and Emergencia timonensis gen. nov., sp. nov.: two new bacterial species isolated from human stool microbiota

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract Two new bacterial strains, Marseille-P2698 (= CSUR P2698 = DSM 103121) and Marseille-P2260 (CSUR P2260 = DSM 101844 = SN18), were isolated from human stools by the culturomic method. We used the taxonogenomic approach, to fully describe these two new bacterial strains.

EXPRESSION OF CONCERN: Characterization of a novel Gram‐stain‐positive anaerobic coccus isolated from the female genital tract: Genome sequence and description of Murdochiella vaginalis sp. nov.

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2018., 2018
Murdochiella vaginalis is a new bacterial species isolated in a vaginal sample from a patient with bacterial vaginosis. Murdochiella vaginalis is a Gram‐positive coccus‐shaped, nonmotile, and strictly anaerobic bacterium. The genome of M. vaginalis which 1,671,491 bp long contains 49.48 mol% G+C, 1,446 protein‐coding genes and 55 RNAs.

Genome-Based Classification of Strain 16-SW-7, a Marine Bacterium Capable of Converting B Red Blood Cells, as Pseudoalteromonas distincta and Proposal to Reclassify Pseudoalteromonas paragorgicola as a Later Heterotypic Synonym of Pseudoalteromonas distincta

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
A strictly aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, and motile bacterium, designated strain 16-SW-7, isolated from a seawater sample, was investigated in detail due to its ability to produce a unique α-galactosidase converting B red blood cells into the

EXPRESSION OF CONCERN: Bacillus kwashiorkori sp. nov., a new bacterial species isolated from a malnourished child using culturomics

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2018., 2018
Here we describe the phenotypic characteristics, MALDI‐TOF MS profile, the complete genome sequence, and genomic analyses (taxonogenomics) for the strain SIT6T (the type strain for the new proposed species Bacillus kwashiorkori). This new species was isolated from the stool sample of a Nigerian 4‐month‐old child suffering from acute malnutrition ...

‘Massilimalia timonensis’ sp. nov., a new bacterium species isolated from human faeces after decontamination with alcohol

open access: yesNew Microbes and New Infections, 2018
We describe the main characteristics of a new bacterial species ‘Massilimalia timonensis’ sp. nov. The type strain Marseille-P3753T (=CSUR P3753) was isolated from the stool of a healthy Senegalese man.

Redefining the Taxonomic Boundaries of Genus Xanthomonas

open access: yesTaxonomy, 2023
The genus Xanthomonas primarily comprises phytopathogenic species. By carrying out deep phylo-taxonogenomics, we recently reported that the genera Xylella, Stenotrophomonas, and Pseudoxanthomonas are misclassified and belong to the genus Xanthomonas ...

EXPRESSION OF CONCERN: Hugonella massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., genome sequence, and description of a new strictly anaerobic bacterium isolated from the human gut

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2017., 2017
Phylogenetic tree highlighting the position of Hugonella massiliensis strain AT8T relative to other close strains. Abstract The human gut is composed of a large diversity of microorganisms, which have been poorly described. Here, using culturomics, a new concept based on the variation in culture conditions and MALDI‐TOF MS identification, we proceed to

Taxonogenomics and description of Vaginella massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., strain Marseille P2517T, a new bacterial genus isolated from the human vagina

open access: yesNew Microbes and New Infections, 2017
An obligate aerobic, Gram-negative, nonmotile and nonsporulating rod designated Marseille P2517 was isolated from the vaginal flora. We describe its features, annotate the genome and compare it to the closest species. The 16S rRNA analysis shows 93.03% sequence similarity with Weeksella virosa, the phylogenetically closest species.

EXPRESSION OF CONCERN: Microvirga massiliensis sp. nov., the human commensal with the largest genome

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 307-322, April 2016., 2016
Microvirga massiliensis JC119T has the largest bacterial genome of an isolate in humans. Here, we describe the features of M. massiliensis JC119T, together with the genome sequence information and its annotation. Abstract Microvirga massiliensis sp. nov. strain JC119T is a bacteria isolated in Marseille from a stool sample collected in Senegal. The 16S
