Exploring Teacher Leadership Across Cultures: Introduction to Teacher Leadership

open access: yesResearch in Educational Administration and Leadership, 2021
This editorial situates the special issue in the context of some of the dominant understandings of teacher leadership that appear in literature that spans several decades and includes comprehensive literature reviews. Then the origins of the International Study of Teacher Leadership are outlined and the process of forming a large international research

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A Model of Spaces and Access in the Construction of Asian and Asian American Identities: “Blood Only Takes You So Far”

open access: yesGenealogy
The lack of research on Asian and Asian American students attending Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in the Southwest U.S. leaves this population vulnerable to marginalization by educational leaders who are not adequately prepared to support their ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Teacher Leadership Begins with Self-Leadership [PDF]

open access: yesTeacher Education and Curriculum Studies, 2021
This study examines teacher leadership and how it starts with self-leadership. An effective teacher leader must be able to lead oneself effectively before he or she can lead others within and outside the classroom. Self-leadership is the practice in which one intentionally influences their thinking, feelings, and actions in order to achieve specific ...

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Measuring physical literacy in Mi'kma'ki: an initial determination of Indigenous (Mi'kmaw) students' physical literacy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circumpolar Health
Physical literacy is a critical component of children's overall wellness and academic success. While it has been discussed in Indigenous contexts, no published research has yet systematically measured physical literacy among Indigenous children in Canada.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...
