A Novel Turbulence Trigger for Neoclassical Tearing Modes in Tokamaks
"Stochastic trigger by microturbulence for neoclassical tearing mode (NTM) is studied. NTM induces topological change of magnetic structure and has subcritical nature.

Kinetic simulations of the coupling between current instabilities and reconnection in thin current sheets [PDF]
We investigate the coupling between current and tearing instability modes of a thin current sheet using the particle code GISMO. We identify pure tearing modes (kx≠ 0), instabilities in the current flow direction (ky≠ 0) and general 3D reconnection modes

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Impurity radiation seeding of neoclassical tearing mode growth
The physics of neoclassical tearing modes (NTMs) is of great concern to tokamak plasma stability and performance, especially in the burning plasma regime.

Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

The tearing mode (TM), a large-scale magnetohydrodynamic instability in tokamak, typically disrupts the equilibrium magnetic surfaces, leads to the formation of magnetic islands, reduces core electron temperature and density, thus resulting in ...

Nonlinear drift tearing modes [PDF]
It is shown analytically and with a numerical code that the nonlinear growth and saturation of magnetic islands in tokamaks is not affected by diamagnetic corrections. Diamagnetic effects change the linear growth and introduce mode rotation, which persists in the nonlinear regime.
