Neoclassical tearing modes in a tokamak [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Linear tearing instability is studied in the banana collisionality regime in tokamak geometry. Neoclassical effects produce significant modifications of Ohm's law and the vorticity equation so that the growth rate of tearing modes driven by .delta.' is dramatically reduced compared to the usual resistive MHD value.

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Linear and non-linear calculations of the tearing mode

open access: yes, 1977
The application of a two-dimensional, nonlinear MHD computer code to the tearing mode is described. For the case of the sheet pinch, linear growth rates are obtained.

Castration‐resistant prostate cancer cells are addicted to the high activity of cyclin‐dependent kinase 2

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that emergence of castration‐resistant prostate (CRPC) is associated with significant upregulation of cyclins that positively regulate cyclin‐dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) and concomitant downregulation of CDK4 cyclins. This renders CRPC cells dependent on the high activity of CDK2, and CDK2 inhibitors synergistically sensitize CRPC cells to both ...

Systematic design and simulation of a tearing mode suppression feedback control system for the TEXTOR tokamak

open access: yes, 2012
Suppression of tearing modes is essential for the operation of tokamaks. This paper describes the design and simulation of a tearing mode suppression feedback control system for the TEXTOR tokamak.

Tearing Instability in Gyrotropic Magnetohydrodynamics: Effects of Equilibrium Pressure Anisotropy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Weakly collisional plasmas are widespread in astrophysics and can sustain pressure anisotropy, yet most analytical tearing-mode scalings assume an isotropic equilibrium.

Extracellular vesicle lipidomics liquid biopsy reveals systemic and tumor microenvironment metabolic reprogramming in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicle (EV) lipidomic profiling of plasma and ascites from patients with high‐grade serous ovarian cancer and of ovarian cancer cell lines reveals enrichment of triglycerides (TGs), diacylglycerols (DGs), phosphatidylcholine (PCs), sphingomyelins (SMs), reflecting tumor metabolic reprogramming.

Study of Thermal Transport Effects on Drift-Tearing Mode

open access: yes, 2006
The linear analysis of the drift tearing mode based on four-field reduced two fluid model is performed to investigate thermal transport effects on the growth rate.

Resistive Tearing Mode Instability in Generalized Harris Current Sheets

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The widely adopted initial force-balanced equilibrium prior to the occurrence of magnetic reconnection (MR) is the so-called Harris sheet model with antiparallel magnetic field.

Regulation of the lncRNA NEAT1 by p53‐ΔNp63 crosstalk modulates the DNA damage response and therapeutic efficacy in HNSCC

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) p53 and p63 exert opposite roles on the transcription regulation of the lncRNA NEAT1. Under basal conditions, p53 levels are low and p63 represses NEAT1 expression. Upon genotoxic stress, p53 is rapidly induced, displacing p63 from the NEAT1 promoter leading to NEAT1 transcriptional activation and ...
