Technetium-99m radiopharmaceuticals
1995Technetium is a group VIIB transition element which has seven electrons beyond the noble gas electronic configuration. The other members of the group are manganese (Mn) and rhenium (Re); together they form a triad (Mn, Tc, Re). All three elements easily lose the seven electrons to yield the +7 oxidation state of permetallate anions (MnO− 4, TcO− 4, ReO−

We report the preliminary results of a prospective study demonstrating tetrofosmin uptake in surgically and histologically proven parathyroid adenomas. In ten patients with primary chronic hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid imaging was performed using (1) technetium-99m methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) and (2) 99mTc-1, 2-bis(bis(2-ethoxyethyl)phosphino ...

Evaluation of thyroid nodules with technetium‐99m MIBI and technetium‐99m pertechnetate
Head & Neck, 2001AbstractBackgroundMost thyroid centers use fine‐needle aspiration (FNA) and technetium‐99m pertechnetate for the preoperative assessment of thyroid nodules. This approach is sufficient in most cases other than follicular neoplasm, and follicular carcinoma is more common than papillary carcinoma in developing countries such as in our center.

Adsorption of technetium-99m tetrofosmin and technetium-99m furifosmin on plastic syringes
European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, 1998Some groups have reported that adsorption of radiopharmaceuticals on disposable plastic syringes can reach levels of almost 50%. This high loss of radioactivity stimulated us to carry out similar studies. Our measurements were done in combination with patient studies. Therefore, we used 2-ml syringes, all of the same brand.

Technetium 99m Sestamibi in Multiple Myeloma
Radiology, 2005Editor: We read with great interest the excellent review on diagnostic imaging in multiple myeloma by Dr Angtuaco and colleagues in the April 2004 issue of Radiology (1). We would like to address just a few issues related to the use of technetium 99m (Tc) sestamibi.

Technetium-99m-labeled monoclonal antibodies: influence of technetium-99m binding sites.
Journal of nuclear medicine : official publication, Society of Nuclear Medicine, 1994A number of 99mTc-labeled monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) are being evaluated for diagnostic applications. Preparations are carried out using both direct and indirect (bifunctional chelating agent, BFCA) labeling procedures in which nonspecific 99mTc binding has been postulated.By using the ascorbic acid (AA) reduction mediated direct labeling procedure ...

Thyroid imaging was performed using technetium-99m methoxyisobutylisonitrile and technetium-99m pertechnetate in 58 patients. The 99mTc-pertechnetate scans showed a total of 77 nodules: 60 cold, 13 hot and 4 of normal activity. There was no 99mTc-MIBI accumulation in 46.4% of 99mTc-pertechnetate cold nodules; 27 (45%) of these nodules showed 99mTc-MIBI

Technetium‐99m radiochemistry for pharmaceutical applications
Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, 2017Technetium‐99m (99mTc) is a widely used radionuclide, and the development of 99mTc imaging agents continues to be in demand. This overview discusses basic principles of 99mTc radiopharmaceutical preparation and design and focuses on the 99mTc radiochemistry relevant to its pharmaceutical applications. The 99mTc complexes are described based on the most
