Robotic Telepresence at Scale

Proceedings of the 2017 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2017
Telepresence robots offer a relatively new way for people to project their presence remotely. However, these experiences have only been studied in controlled or small scale installations. To broaden our understanding of the successes and limitations of telepresence robots in large-scale venues, we conducted a study at CHI 2016 where five factors ...

A panorama interface for telepresence robots

Proceedings of the 6th international conference on Human-robot interaction, 2011
Telepresence robots are becoming increasingly popular and are increasingly ready to enter use in the real world as stand-ins for remote humans. It is useful, but currently uncommon, to provide the human operator with an approximation of peripheral vision and the ability to saccade around the scene.

Evaluating Telepresence Robots in the Field

2013
Most robotic systems are usually used and evaluated in laboratory setting for a limited period of time. The limitation of lab evaluation is that it does not take into account the different challenges imposed by the fielding of robotic solutions into real contexts. Our current work evaluates a robotic telepresence platform to be used with elderly people.

Telepresence Robot Doctor

2016 Online International Conference on Green Engineering and Technologies (IC-GET), 2016
Telepresence is one of the emerging fields in robotics. The objective of the work is to enhance the Telepresence Robot to Telepresence Robot Doctor which can allow direct connection to medical sensors, such as electronic heart pulse rate sensors and temperature sensor for transmitting medical data to the remote physician. The physician can thus discuss

Robotic Telepresence

Proceedings of the Human Factors Society Annual Meeting, 1986
The Air Force sees a need for a militarized robot, designed to perform flight line maintenance and repair operations during a chemical/biological/radiological attack, or to assist man in space operations such as constructing a space station or performing such tasks as satellite inspection, diagnosis, repair, modification or deactivation.

Telepresence Robots As A Service Robot

2021
Yirmi birinci yüz yılın sanayi devrimi olan Endüstri 4.0, makineleşme ve dijitalleşme sürecinde tüm bileşenleriyle insan unsurunun en aza indirgenerek üretim süreçlerinde maksimum verimin sağlanması prensibine dayanan bir yaklaşımdır. Dijital çağa uyum sağlayabilmek adına birçok bileşeninin ayı anda ya da farklı farklı zaman dilimlerinde üretim ...

The usage of telepresence robots to support the elderly

2018 2nd International Conference on Technology and Innovation in Sports, Health and Wellbeing (TISHW), 2018
The aging process causes physical and psychological changes, as well as social changes. It is one of the major risk factors for the onset of diseases and introduces restrictions on people’s lifestyle. Although it constitutes a natural process undergone by every human being, the consequences of aging may be intensified by the deterioration of the social

Improvement on an obstacle avoidance in telepresence robot

2015 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII), 2015
This paper proposes a simple obstacle avoidance method for telepresence robot that is designed for families with elderly people living in remote areas. The proposed method is as follows: 1) Obstacle points are measured by tilting a LRF (Laser Range Finder), 2) Obstacle points that are inside a circle (Radius 0.75cm) at the center of LRF are projected ...

A collaborative control system for telepresence robots

2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012
Interest in telepresence robots is at an all time high, and several companies are already commercializing early or basic versions. There seems to be a huge potential for their use in professional applications, where they can help address some of the challenges companies have found in integrating a geographically distributed work force.
