Skills training in telerobotic surgery

International Journal of Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery, 2005
AbstractSurgical robots have the potential to expand the repertoire of minimally invasive surgery resulting in more patients benefiting from lower operative morbidity and shorter hospital stays. However, in a similar manner to all new surgical interventions it necessary to explore the learning curves of practitioners as they adopt this new technology ...

Telerobotic response requirements

1990 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Conference Proceedings, 2002
The bandwidth and response characteristics required for effective telerobotic control are investigated. The definition of these requirements is based on surveying existing literature on teleoperation, robotics, and human factors to determine if sufficient knowledge in this area is available to adequately specify appropriate requirements.

Installation of telerobotic surgery and initial experience with telerobotic radical prostatectomy

BJU International, 2005
OBJECTIVE To assess the ability of untrained laparoscopic surgeons to learn and implement laparoscopic telerobotic radical prostatectomy (TRP) using the daVinci Surgical System (Intuitive Surgical, CA), and assess the education, safety and efficacy issues when instituting this system.

Advanced telerobotic controller

Proceedings of OCEANS'94, 2002
An advanced telerobotic control system has been developed for a subsea manipulator as part of the ARM (Automated Remote Manipulation) project. This project is being conducted by a consortium comprising Mobil North Sea Ltd (MNSL), the Offshore Supplies Office (OSO), Slingsby Engineering Ltd (SEL), Technical Software Consultants Limited (TSC) and ...

Telerobotic surgery control and safety

Proceedings 2000 ICRA. Millennium Conference. IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation. Symposia Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37065), 2002
Deals with the developed researches and applications of telerobotic surgery. The paper outlines the following steps: (1) the execution of telesurgery robotic operation, using a satellite and a ISDN line as communication system; (2) the development of a telecontrol system used to remotely control a robotized system during the execution of a prostate ...
