Assessment of heat transfer to periodontal tissues and stress distribution in a tooth with simulated internal resorption cavities at different root levels using two thermoplasticized obturation systems – A finite element analysis study

open access: yesEndodontology, 2022
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the heat transfer to periodontal tissues and stress distribution within simulated roots with internal root resorption cavities at three different levels using two thermoplasticized obturation systems using finite element

Cannibalism by damselflies increases with rising temperature [PDF]

open access: yesBiology Letters, 2017
Abstract Trophic interactions are likely to change under climate warming. These interactions can be altered directly by changing consumption rates, or indirectly by altering growth rates and size asymmetries among individuals that in turn affect feeding.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

On the critical mass of greenhouse gas

open access: yesГеофизический журнал, 2018
In recent years, changes in the Earth’s climate have raised concern all around the globe. Climatologists have been drawing connections between global warming and a growing number of natural disasters, unexpected temperature fluctuations in some regions ...

Temperature Rise Test and Thermal-Fluid Coupling Simulation of an Oil-Immersed Autotransformer Under DC Bias

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Loss and temperature increase due to DC bias occurring in power transformers may lead to damage and reduced lifespan. To study the influence of different levels of DC bias on the temperature rise in transformer structural components, 0, 8, and 16 A DC ...

Stability of peatland carbon to rising temperatures [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
AbstractPeatlands contain one-third of soil carbon (C), mostly buried in deep, saturated anoxic zones (catotelm). The response of catotelm C to climate forcing is uncertain, because prior experiments have focused on surface warming. We show that deep peat heating of a 2 m-thick peat column results in an exponential increase in CH4 emissions.

GRETA - Värdeskapande värmeåtervinning - delrapport värmebehandlingsugn

open access: yes, 2023
GRETA - value adding heat recovery - report heat treatment furnace Recovering heat from exhaust gas from heat treatment furnaces is technically simple and provides high temperature heat, e.g. 100°C heating water/district heating or steam.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...

Timescales for detecting a significant acceleration in sea level rise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
There is observational evidence that global sea level is rising and there is concern that the rate of rise will increase, significantly threatening coastal communities.
