Determining Protein Folding Pathway and Associated Energetics through Partitioned Integrated-Tempering-Sampling Simulation

open access: yes, 2017
Replica exchange molecular dynamics (REMD) and integrated-tempering-sampling (ITS) are two representative enhanced sampling methods which utilize parallel and integrated tempering approaches, respectively. In this work, a partitioned integrated-tempering-

Effect of Slightly Alkaline Electrolyzed Water Tempering on Surface Microorganisms and Moisture Distribution in Wheat

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To reduce the effect of microorganisms on wheat quality, in this study, the effects of slightly alkaline electrolyzed water (SALEW) tempering on wheat surface microorganisms, water distribution in wheat grains, flour yield and color of wheat flour were ...

Effects of 27.12 MHz Radio Frequency on the Rapid and Uniform Tempering of Cylindrical Frozen Pork Loin (Longissimus thoracis et lumborum)

open access: yesFood Science of Animal Resources, 2017
Quality characteristics of frozen cylindrical pork loin were evaluated following different tempering methods: 27.12 MHz curved-electrode radio frequency (RF) at 1000 and 1500 W, and forced-air convection (FC) or water immersion (WI) at 4°C and 20°C.

Microstructural evolution during tempering of an ausformed carbide-free low temperature bainitic steel

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
The influence of tempering at 400 and 500 °C on two bainitic ferrite microstructures obtained via pure isothermal transformation and ausforming followed by the isothermal transformation was studied in a medium C-Si rich bainitic steel.

N-fold way simulated tempering for pairwise interaction point processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Pairwise interaction point processes with strong interaction are usually difficult to sample. We discuss how Besag lattice processes can be used in a simulated tempering MCMC scheme to help with the simulation of such processes. We show how the N-fold

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The investigation of applicability of the Hollomon-Jaffe equation on tempering the HSLA steel [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly, 2009
High strength low-alloyed (HSLA) Cr-Mn-Si steels belong to a group of steels that can reach their full mechanical properties after quenching and tempering. Those properties depend both on the temperature and time of tempering.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

In Situ Monitoring of Retained Austenite Decomposition During Tempering of High-Strength Tool Steels [PDF]

open access: yes
This study investigates the decomposition of retained austenite (RA) in tool steels for plastic molding in correlation with the alloy chemical composition and the tempering parameters.
