A Template Based Continuous Genetic Algorithm for Image Reconstruction

2007 IEEE International Multitopic Conference, 2007
A template-based continuous genetic algorithm (CGA) image reconstruction methodology is proposed for tomographic image reconstruction. For the head and the lung phantoms, the proposed methodology has been found to yield higher image-quality in comparison with the conventional techniques including back-projection, filtered-back-projection, and simulated

Human face location in image sequences using genetic templates

1997 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. Computational Cybernetics and Simulation, 2002
Describes a computer vision system to locate a human face in an image sequence. The system operates on an image sequence captured during a time period and locates the human face region on each image in the sequence. It is the first important step in a human face recognition system.

Plant Tissues as Templates for Morphology Genetic Material Synthesis

2023
In order to ensure the needs of survival and reproduction, plants have formed various, diverse, multi-dimensional, and multi-scale fine and subtle configurations for millions of years, which provides rich inspiration for scientific research in many fields today.

Biomimetic self-templating optical structures fabricated by genetically engineered M13 bacteriophage

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2016
Here, we describe a highly sensitive and selective surface plasmon resonance sensor system by utilizing self-assembly of genetically engineered M13 bacteriophage. About 2700 copies of genetically expressed peptide copies give superior selectivity and sensitivity to M13 phage-based SPR sensor.

Molecular evolution: first enzymes, gases as substrates and genetic templates.

Rivista di biologia, 2002
A fundamental problem in biology is the self-assembly of the first cells capable of growth and division under anoxic conditions on the Earth. Evolution proceeded by self-assembling and self-replicating cells that reproduced their own genetic information and also changed their genetic code over time.

Human linear template with mammographic backgrounds estimated with a genetic algorithm

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2007
We estimated human observer linear templates underlying the detection of a realistic, spherical mass signal with mammographic backgrounds. Five trained naïve observers participated in two-alternative forced-choice (2-AFC) detection experiments with the signal superimposed on synthetic, clustered lumpy backgrounds (CLBs) in one condition and on ...

Autonomous Language Development Using Dialogue-Act Templates and Genetic Programming

IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, 2007
In recent years, the concept of "autonomous mental development" (AMD) has been applied to the construction of artificial systems such as conversational agents, in order to resolve some of the difficulties involved in the manual definition of their knowledge bases and behavioral patterns.

Improved metal cluster deposition on a genetically engineered tobacco mosaic virus template

Nanotechnology, 2005
Improved depositions of various metal clusters onto a biomolecular template were achieved using a genetically engineered tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). Wild-type TMV was genetically altered to display multiple solid metal binding sites through the insertion of two cysteine residues within the amino-terminus of the virus coat protein.

Attempted nonenzymatic template-directed oligomerizations on a polyadenylic acid template: Implications for the nature of the first genetic material

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1991
Previous attempts to produce nonenzymatic template-directed oligomerizations of activated pyrimidines on polypurine templates have been unsuccessful. The only efficient reactions are those where the template is composed primarily of pyrimidines, especially cytosine.

Template Selection for Lookup Table Based on Genetic Algorithm

2013
A template selection method based on genetic algorithm was proposed for inverse halftoning in this paper. A constrained mathematical model was built to describe the template optimization problem. Since the existing greedy method was said not to find the globally optimum template, we solved this optimization problem by using genetic algorithm.
