Object recognition by flexible template matching using genetic algorithms

1992
We demonstrate the use of a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to match a flexible template model to image evidence. The advantage of the GA is that plausible interpretations can be found in a relatively small number of trials; it is also possible to generate multiple distinct interpretation hypotheses.

Optimizing Template for Lookup-Table Inverse Halftoning using Elitist Genetic Algorithm

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2015
A template optimization method based on elitist genetic algorithm was proposed for lookup-table inverse halftoning. A mathematical model with constraint conditions was built to describe the template optimization problem. We solved this optimization problem by using elitist genetic algorithm and designed the details about encoding and decoding scheme ...

Template-Free Biometric-Key Generation by Means of Fuzzy Genetic Clustering

IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, 2008
Biometric authentication is increasingly gaining popularity in a wide range of applications. However, the storage of the biometric templates and/or encryption keys that are necessary for such applications is a matter of serious concern, as the compromise of templates or keys necessarily compromises the information secured by those keys.

The Musa acuminata genome sequence, a new template for banana genetics

2011
We produced a reference genome sequence of banana. The Musa accession selected for sequencing is a doubled haploid of the accession 'Pahang' (DH-Pahang). This accession belongs to the Musa acuminata species (AA genome) malaccensis subspecies. We generated 20.5x coverage of the 523 Mb genome of DH-Pahang (estimated by flow cytometry) using paired and ...

Two Step Template Matching Method with Correlation Coefficient and Genetic Algorithm

2009
This paper presents a rotation invariant template matching method based on two step matching process, cross correlation and genetic algorithm. In order to improve the matching performance, the traditional normalized correlation coefficient method is combined with genetic algorithm.

Knowledge-Augmented Genetic Algorithms for Effective Instruction Template Selection in Compilers

2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications, 2013
Compilers form one of the most basic components in computing today. The high-level programs used to form applications are translated to assembly code by the compiler, and subsequently to machine code by the assembler. Assembly code generation is preceded by the optimization phase, which reorganizes and modifies the program to give the best possible ...

Genetics decision-making: a template for problems with informed consent.

Medicine and law, 2002
Developments in information technology and advances in genetics present challenges to physicians in terms of providing adequate informed consent. Genetic mechanisms and related therapies are very complex and involve a number of uncertainties. Yet, physicians have very little training in genetics or in dealing with uncertainty.
