Tenuigenin targets Trim31 and NF-κB pathway to protect dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson’s disease mice

Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the SN and the accumulation of α-synuclein (α-syn). In this study, we explored the neuroprotective effects of the natural compound tenuigenin on PD through bioinformatics analysis and in vivo experiments.

Tenuigenin treatment decreases secretion of the Alzheimer’s disease amyloid β-protein in cultured cells

Neuroscience Letters, 2004
Amyloid beta-protein (A beta) is a pivotal pathological factor in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Tenuigenin, extracted from the Chinese herb Polygala tenuifolia, seems to ameliorate the reduction in cholinergic function on rat models induced by A beta. To examine this therapeutic effect, we tested whether Tenuigenin could inhibit secretion of A beta in ...

Tenuigenin activates the IRS1/Akt/mTOR signaling by blocking PTPN1 to inhibit autophagy and improve locomotor recovery in spinal cord injury

Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2023
Tenuigenin (TEN) is a main pharmacologically active component of Polygala tenuifolia Willd. (Polygalaceae), which has shown neuroprotective functions in Alzheimer's disease. Moreover, TEN also demonstrated an anti-oxidative impact in an in vitro model of Parkinson's disease, reducing damage and loss of dopaminergic neurons. This work focuses on the ...

Tenuigenin inhibits osteosarcoma growth via CIP2A/PP2A/NF-κB axis

Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology
Polygala tenuifolia and its active components have been revealed to possess anti-tumor activities. However, the role of Tenuigenin (TEN), a bioactive ingredient from Polygala tenuifolia, in tumors such as osteosarcoma (OS) remains unclear. The present research intended to explore the efficacy and underlying mechanism of TEN on OS.OS cells were ...

Tenuifolin, an extract derived from tenuigenin, inhibits amyloid‐β secretion in vitro

Acta Physiologica, 2009
AbstractAim:  Previous studies have shown that tenuigenin, a crude extract of Polygala tenuifolia Willd. that is commonly used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine for memory loss, can reduce the secretion of Aβ from cultured cells. However, the mechanism underlying this effect and the active compound derived from tenuigenin is unknown. In this study,

[The protective effects of tenuigenin on the PC12 cells injury induced by H2O2].

Zhong yao cai = Zhongyaocai = Journal of Chinese medicinal materials, 2008
To study the protective effects of tenuigenin (TEN) on the PC12 cells injury induced by H2O2.Oxidative damage PC12 cells model was induced by H2O2. The survival rate of the cells was determined by MTT method. The content of LDH was determined by ultraviolet spectrophometry and the content of MDA and SOD activity was measured respectively by ...
