Plasmonic terahertz detectors for biodetection
A report is presented on the biodetection capabilities of plasmonic terahertz detectors. Large changes in the terahertz response of plasmonic detectors loaded with solutions of globulin-free bovine serum albumin, arginine and heparin were measured for concentrations that did affect the device transfer characteristics.

The crystalline structure, the atomic numbers of the constituent elementsand the size of MOF crystals each influence their photoluminescence and scintillation properties in distinct ways. Together, these factors provide valuable guidelines for designing systems with optimized performance and tunable timing characteristics, arising from the synergistic ...

Power scaling of ultra-thin terahertz beam-splitters
Extent: 2p.A low-cost ultra-thin broadband terahertz beam-splitter based on a thin conductive layer has previously been fabricated and tested. Here, this paper shows the linearity of power scaling of the beam-splitter from lower to higher power in ...

Photonic‐Enabled Energy‐Efficient Transparent Neuromorphic Computing Devices: A Review
Transparent photonic neuromorphic computing devices merge optics and brain‐inspired computing to overcome von Neumann bottlenecks with ultrafast, low‐energy processing. By exploiting transparent oxides, 2D materials, phase‐change materials, and hybrid heterostructures, these platforms enable photonic synapses, memory, and logic for see‐through edge ...

Terahertz magnetic plasmon waveguides
Extent: 2p.A design of subwavelength terahertz waveguides is presented in this manuscript. The structure is composed of a linear chain of split-ring resonators (SRRs), i.e., artificial magnetic atoms. The energy transport along the chain can be described

A compact, continuous-wave terahertz source based on a quantum-cascade laser and a miniature cryocooler [PDF]
We report on the development of a compact, easy-to-use terahertz radiation source, which combines a quantum cascade laser (QCL) operating at 3.1 THz with a compact, low input-power Stirling cooler.
