Electrical and radiation characteristics of semilarge photoconductive terahertz emitters [PDF]
We present experimental characterization of semilarge photoconductive emitters, including their electrical/photoconductive parameters and terahertz spectra. A range of emitters were studied and fabricated on both LT-GaAs and SI-GaAs, having a variety

Terahertz range quantum well infrared photodetector [PDF]
We demonstrated a GaAs/AlGaAs-based far-infrared quantum well infrared photodetector at a wavelength of λ=84 μm. The relevant intersubband transition is slightly diagonal with a dipole matrix element of 3.0 nm. At 10 K, a responsivity of 8.6 mA/W and a detectivity of 5×107 cm √Hz/W have been achieved; and successful detection up to a device temperature

Analysis of a narrowband terahertz signal generated by a unitravelling carrier photodiode coupled with a dual-mode semiconductor Fabry–Pérot laser [PDF]
A narrowband terahertz signal generated by a unitravelling carrier photodiode (UTC-PD) interfaced with a dual-mode Fabry–Pérot laser diode is demonstrated.

Time domain terahertz impulse ranging studies [PDF]
We present time domain impulse scattering measurements of freely propagating terahertz radiation measured with subpicosecond resolution. This fast time response corresponds to a usable bandwidth of over 1 THz. Measured scattered fields from thin wire targets agree well with the calculated scattering for the early and late time response in both the time

Liquid Crystal-Tuned Planar Optics in Terahertz Range
Recently, terahertz waves of higher frequencies compared to microwave and radio frequency have shown great potential in radar detection and high-speed wireless communication. To spatially control the wavefront of terahertz beams, various novel components,

Terahertz electromagnetic fields (0.106 THz) do not induce manifest genomic damage in vitro. [PDF]
Terahertz electromagnetic fields are non-ionizing electromagnetic fields in the frequency range from 0.1 to 10 THz. Potential applications of these electromagnetic fields include the whole body scanners, which currently apply millimeter waves just below ...

Direct measurement of molecular mobility and crystallisation of amorphous pharmaceuticals using terahertz spectroscopy. [PDF]
Despite much effort in the area, no comprehensive understanding of the formation and behaviour of amorphous solids has yet been achieved. This severely limits the industrial application of such materials, including drug delivery where, in principle ...
