Part of Speech Based Term Weighting for Information Retrieval
Automatic language processing tools typically assign to terms so-called weights corresponding to the contribution of terms to information content. Traditionally, term weights are computed from lexical statistics, e.g., term frequencies.

Long-term consequences of low birth weight [PDF]
There is accumulating evidence of the impact of low birth weight in adult age. Thus, the Barker theory and Brenner hypothesis gain more power. This article reviews and analyzes the evidence that supports the intrauterine origin of chronic noncommunicable diseases in adult age, particularly systemic arterial hypertension and chronic renal insufficiency.

Retrieval of source documents in a text reuse system
The architecture of the text-reuse detection system consists of three main modules, i.e., source retrieval, text analysis, and knowledge-based postprocessing. Each module plays an important role in the accuracy rate of the detection outputs.

Maximum likelihood weighting of dynamic speech features for CDHMM speech recognition [PDF]
Speech dynamic features are routinely used in current speech recognition systems in combination with short-term (static) spectral features. Although many existing speech recognition systems do not weight both kinds of features, it seems convenient to use

Supervised term weighting for automated text categorization [PDF]
The construction of a text classi.er usually involves (i) a phase of term selection, in which the most relevant terms for the classi.cation task are identi.ed, (ii) a phase of term weighting, in which document weights for the selected terms are computed, and (iii) a phase of classi.er learning, in which a classi.er is generated from the weighted ...
