Can we learn from the unknown? Logical data sets of the ternary kind are often found in information systems. They contain unknown as well as true/false values. An unknown value may represent a missing entry (lost or indeterminable) or something with meaning, like a 'Don't Know' response in a questionnaire. In this paper we introduce an effectively- and

1. The problemIn this paper we give the complete list of the functions of one variable with some of their properties, and lists of functions corresponding to various properties of sum, product, implication, and equivalence. The range of the variables as well as that of functional values will be о (false), ½, 1 (true).

Ternary codes through ternary designs [PDF]
\textit{D. Fujitake, S. Kageyama} and \textit{T. Shimata} indicated in a classroom note [Bull. Inst. Comb. Appl. 19, 121--124 (1997; Zbl 0871.05005)] that a BIBD satisfying certain conditions can be used to construct a binary error-correcting code. This note considers a similar structure for ternary error-correcting codes, using the incidence matrix of

Ternary Semigroups and Ternary Algebras
2011The ternary algebraic, topological, ordered structures are used in the modern theoretical and mathematical physics and in the theory of functional equations. The subject-matter of this paper focuses on ternary semigroups of mappings and ternary algebras of mappings.

Ternary heat effects in ternary mixtures
Thermochimica Acta, 1986Abstract Excess enthalpies of three ternary mixtures consisting of benzene + carbon tetrachloride + cyclohexane at 303.15 K, acetone + carbon tetrachloride + cyclohexane, and acetone + cyclohexane + chloroform at 298.15 K have been measured over the whole composition range using an adiabatic calorimeter.

Abstract—This note discusses a particular kind of ternary functional decomposition based on a ternary function ↑ to be performed on the set of composite functions. Such function is closely related to the cycling concept of Postian algebras. A systematic method is given to determine the set of all decompositions of that kind admitted by the function ...

Networks with Ternary Components: Ternary Spectrum
2014In this chapter we consider a monotone binary system with ternary components. “Ternary” or (“trinary”) means that each component can be in one of three states: up, middle (mid) and down. It turns out that for this system exists a combinatorial invariant by means of which it is possible to count the number \(C(r;x)\) of system failure sets with a given ...

Ternary Convolutional Codes for Ternary Phase Shift Keying
IEEE Communications Letters, 2016In this letter, the construction of ternary convolutional codes (TCCs) for ternary phase shift keying (TPSK) modulation is considered. The tables of non-recursive non-systematic TCCs with a maximum free distance are given for rates $1/2$ , $1/3$ , and $1/4$ . The conversion from binary data to ternary symbols is investigated.

A ternary algebra is a bounded distributive lattice with additonal operations e and ~ that satisfies (a+b)~=a~b~, a~~=a, e≤a+a~, e~= e and 0~=1. This article characterizes free ternary algebras by giving necessary and sufficient conditions on a set X of free generators of a ternary algebra L, so that X freely generates L.
