Design Methodologies for Ternary Logic Circuits

2018 IEEE 48th International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic (ISMVL), 2018
Ternary logic has advantage over binary circuits with respect to area and interconnect complexity. CNFET technology is ideal to implement ternary logic circuits because the threshold voltage of CNFETs depends on the physical dimensions of their channel. This work presents new approach to design CNFET-based ternary logic circuits. This approach uses 2:1

Ternary Threshold Logic

IEEE Transactions on Electronic Computers, 1963
A new logical algebra, ternary threshold logic, is defined and developed. The system is shown to be capable of representing all three-valued functions, and two methods of synthesizing these functions from their truth tables are given. One of the methods produces a normal form that is analogous to the disjunctive normal form of Boolean algebra.

Ternary logic in digital computers

Proceedings of the SHARE design automation project on - DAC '65, 1965
Although the states as well as the number representation of virtually every digital computer are implemented for the most part with binary logic, there are other systems such as the ternary or quinary that could just as well be used. The choice of which logic system to use should be determined primarily on the basis of cost, reliability, and operating ...

Synthesis Techniques for Ternary Quantum Logic

2011 41st IEEE International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic, 2011
Synthesis of ternary quantum circuits involves basic ternary gates and logic operations in the ternary quantum domain. Works that define ternary algebra and their applications for ternary quantum logic realization, are very few. In this paper, we express a ternary logic function in terms of projection operations including a new one.

Ternary Logics in Decision Making

2021
Decision support systems must provide a solution even in cases when the data needed for finding the solution are incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory. The binary logic does not work with these data effectively because in close World assumption it leads to wrong results as in open World assumption make the goal unreachable in many cases.

An Optimal Design Methodology of Ternary Logic in Iso-device Ternary CMOS

2021 IEEE 51st International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic (ISMVL), 2021
Studies report the possibility of the end of scaling, which is the key engine that has led the era of binary computers. Ternary computing is reported to have one of the highest potential to replace binary computers in the near future. Regarding this forecast, ternary CMOS (T-CMOS) is a device said to be a great candidate.

Some Properties of Ternary Threshold Logic

IEEE Transactions on Electronic Computers, 1964
A class of 3-valued switching functions, called ternary threshold functions, has been defined and described in some detail by Hanson [1]. It has been suggested' that continued investigation of synthesis with functions of this class is desirable; this note elaborates further on the properties of ternary threshold functions and demonstrates some to their

Regular ternary logic functions - ternary logic functions suitable for treating ambiguity

IEEE Trans. Computers, 1986
Consider the system V consisting of the three values 0, 1/2, 1. Ternary logic functions, i.e. functions of the form \(F: V^ n\to V\) are studied. Conjunction [resp. disjunction] is extended to ternary functions by taking the minimum [resp.

On constructing intellectual systems in ternary logic

Programming and Computer Software, 2014
The paper shows that it is possible to develop an intelligent system on a production knowledge model using three-valued logic, which operates with the states "truth, false, possible". A method is proposed for constructing intelligent systems that are free from contradictions and are capable of not only extracting facts but also explaining what facts ...

Basics of CNTFET and Ternary Logic

2020
In this chapter, we present key aspects of the CNTFET technology. As indicated earlier, carbon nanotubes have bandgaps that are dependent on the diameter of the tubes [1]. Also, the bandgap turns out to be a measure of the threshold voltage of the CNTFET.
