Multifaceted Study of Medicago marina Essential Oil: Chemical Composition, Antidiabetic, and Phytotoxic Insights via In Vitro and In Silico Approaches

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The essential oil of Medicago marina was subjected to analysis at vegetative and reproductive stages of development, with a particular emphasis on its chemical composition, α‐amylase inhibition, and allelopathic activities. The results of the gas chromatography and molecular docking studies demonstrated alterations in oil yield and composition

Characterization of the Cubamyces Menziesii Terpenome

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
The genome of Cubamyces menziesii reveals 18 putative sesquiterpene cyclase genes. These genes are cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli, yielding 10 active enzymes. Using farnesyl diphosphate as substrate, the enzymes are analyzed, and the products characterized after bioconversion, uncovering diverse sesquiterpene structures. This study highlights

Genome Mining Reveals a Novel Nephthenol‐Producing Diterpene Synthase from the Sandfly Lutzomyia Longipalpis

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
The discovery of a terpene synthase of insect origin that makes the apparently cryptic product nephthenol from geranylgeranyl diphosphate sheds light on hidden biosynthetic potential. Populations of the sandfly, Lutzomyia longipalpis, use the diterpene sobralene as a sex/aggregation pheromone, which is likely produced in the insect through the activity

Insights into Leptocybe invasa resistance in Eucalyptus: phenotyping, genotyping and in silico approaches

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The gall wasp, Leptocybe invasa, poses a significant global threat to Eucalyptus cultivation, by causing substantial economic losses. The objective of this study was to differentiate between resistant and susceptible genotypes by morphological ...
