Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

Independent Randomness Tests based on the Orthogonalized Non-overlapping Template Matching Test [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In general, randomness tests included in a test suite are not independent of each other. This renders it difficult to fix a rational criterion through the whole test suite with an explicit significance level. In this paper, we focus on the Non-overlapping Template Matching Test, which is a randomness test included in the NIST statistical test suite ...

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Influence of Anthropometry, Age, Sex, and Activity Level on the Hand Reach Star Excursion Balance Test

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
The influence of anthropometric measurements, age, sex, and activity level have been found to influence tests of dynamic postural control such as the star excursion balance test (SEBT).

Extended MinP Tests for Global and Multiple testing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Empirical economic studies often involve multiple propositions or hypotheses, with researchers aiming to assess both the collective and individual evidence against these propositions or hypotheses. To rigorously assess this evidence, practitioners frequently employ tests with quadratic test statistics, such as $F$-tests and Wald tests, or tests based ...

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

Adaptability-based service behavioral assessment

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2015
Building Service-oriented Applications implies the selection of adequate services to fulfill required functionality. Even a reduced set of candidate services involves an overwhelming assessment effort.

GPS kinematics measurements accuracy testing [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2007
In the paper accuracy of GPS kinematics measurements is analyzed. GPS (Global Positioning System) apparatus Stratus (Sokkia) and Pro Mark2 (Aschtech) were tested.

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

On the Use of Nearest Neighbor Contingency Tables for Testing Spatial Segregation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
For two or more classes (or types) of points, nearest neighbor contingency tables (NNCTs) are constructed using nearest neighbor (NN) frequencies and are used in testing spatial segregation of the classes. Pielou's test of independence, Dixon's cell-specific, class-specific, and overall tests are the tests based on NNCTs (i.e., they are NNCT-tests ...
