Multi‐Targeting Carnosic Acid Kills Drug‐Resistant Helicobacter pylori With Narrow‐Spectrum Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carnosic acid selectively eradicates drug‐resistant Helicobacter pylori through a multi‐targeted mechanism involving urease inhibition, membrane disruption, and biofilm eradication. It exhibits no detectable resistance, potent in vivo efficacy, and minimal impact on gut microbiota, positioning it as a promising narrow‐spectrum lead compound against ...

Conformational Snapshots of CydDC in a Native Lipid Bilayer Coupling Heme Transport to Antibiotic Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phylogenetic and biochemical analyses of the heme transporter CydDC reveal its functional conservation throughout bacterial evolution and demonstrate its unique asymmetric allosteric mechanism. Furthermore, impairment of CydDC function directly affects bacterial antibiotic resistance and likely compromises antibiotic efficacy through drug efflux.

Conditional and inducible transgene expression in endothelial and hematopoietic cells using Cre/loxP and tetracycline-off systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the present study, the tetracycline-off and Cre/loxP systems were combined to gain temporal and spatial control of transgene expression. Mice were generated that carried three transgenes: Tie2-tTA, tet-O-Cre and either the ZEG or ZAP reporter.

Targeting Lipopolysaccharide Transport Induces Membrane Lipid Remodeling and Sensitizes Acinetobacter baumannii to Colistin Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies C4 as a lead inhibitor of the Lpt system. Notably, C4 potentiates colistin activity by disrupting LPS transport and remodeling phospholipid homeostasis, revealing a functional interplay between the Lpt and Mla systems. These findings establish a mechanistic link between Lpt inhibition and membrane lipid remodeling, positioning Lpt–

Time-resolved quantitative assays and imaging of enzymes and enzyme substrates using a new europium fluorescent probe for hydrogen peroxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The thesis describes the development of a novel reversible H2O2 fluorescent probe comprising the ternary complex of europium(III), tetracycline and hydrogen peroxide; and its application in the assays of H2O2, of H2O2 producing oxidases and their ...

Oxygen Vacancy‐Mediated Bi─O Unsaturation Coordination in BiOCl for Efficient Photocatalytic Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The incorporation of oxygen vacancies (OVs) presents a viable strategy for fine‐tuning the photocatalytic prowess of BiOCl. A reliable hydrogen annealing reduction technique is employed to precisely design OVs, thereby optimizing the light absorption capacity, as well as the efficiency of carrier migration and separation in BiOCl.

Toxicity of tetracyclines and tetracycline degradation products to environmentally relevant bacteria, including selected tetracycline-resistant bacteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Tetracyclines used in veterinary therapy invariably will find their way as parent compound and degradation products to the agricultural field. Major degradation products formed due to the limited stability of parent tetracyclines (tetracycline ...

Comparative Photo‐Induced Aging of Poly(Butylene Adipate‐co‐Terephthalate) and Polystyrene Microplastics and their Divergent Affinities for Tetracycline in Aquatic Environments

open access: yesChemistryOpen
Microplastics (MPs) experience photo‐induced surface modification in sunlit waters, yet the implications for contaminant binding differ fundamentally for biodegradable and conventional MPs.

A Comprehensive Microbial Gene Catalog of the Human Airway Microbiome Across Anatomical Sites and Geographic Regions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated Human Airway Microbiome Gene Catalog (iHAMGC) is constructed from 12,273 metagenomic airway samples, providing a high‐resolution reference of respiratory microbial genes. The catalog enables systematic exploration of taxonomic and functional variation across airway niches and geographic regions, revealing site‐specific and region ...

High Levels of Intrinsic Tetracycline Resistance in Mycobacterium abscessus Are Conferred by a Tetracycline-Modifying Monooxygenase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Tetracyclines have been one of the most successful classes of antibiotics. However, its extensive use has led to the emergence of widespread drug resistance, resulting in discontinuation of use against several bacterial infections.
