The biosynthesis of proline by Tetrahymena pyriformis
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1967Abstract 1. 1. This report concerns the pathway for proline formation in Tetrahymena pyriformis and the biochemical basis for the sparing effects of citrulline, ornithine, and proline on the arginine requirement of this organism. Proline is formed from arginine through the intermediates citrulline, ornithine, and glutamate γ-semialdehyde (Δ1 ...

Rapidly Labelled RNA in Tetrahymena pyriformis
European Journal of Biochemistry, 197539‐S, 29‐S and 18‐S nuclear rRNA precursors of Tetrahymena pyriformis have been characterized by acrylamide gel electrophoresis. Evidence is presented for the presence of high‐molecular‐weight non‐methylated RNA species (28 – 39 S, Mr range 1.9 – 2.7 × 106) in the cytoplasm of this protozoa.
