Tumor-Associated Macrophages Suppress the Cytotoxic Activity of Antimitotic Agents

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Antimitotic agents, including Taxol, disrupt microtubule dynamics and cause a protracted mitotic arrest and subsequent cell death. Despite the broad utility of these drugs in breast cancer and other tumor types, clinical response remains variable.

Phylogeny and Flow Cytometry of the Genus Kalidium Moq. (Amaranthaceae s.l.) in Kazakhstan

open access: yesPlants, 2023
The article presents data on phylogeny, genome size, and ploidy of species of the genus Kalidium Moq. in the flora of Kazakhstan. Genus Kalidium belongs to the tribe Salicornieae of the subfamily Salicornioideae of the family Chenopodiaceae and unites ...

Artificial Induction and Genetic Structure Analysis of Tetraploid Turbot Scophthalmus maximus

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
Artificial tetraploid induction is one of the important techniques of fish chromosome manipulation, and it is the first step for triploid breeding. There are a few reports to artificial induction of tetraploid in marine fish.

Using RNA-Seq to assemble a rose transcriptome with more than 13,000 full-length expressed genes and to develop the WagRhSNP 68k Axiom SNP array for rose (Rosa L.)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
In order to develop a versatile and large SNP array for rose, we set out to mine ESTs from diverse sets of rose germplasm. For this RNA-Seq libraries containing about 700 million reads were generated from tetraploid cut and garden roses using Illumina ...

Restricted Distribution of Tetraploid Cells in Mouse Tetraploid ↔ Diploid Chimaeras

open access: yesDevelopmental Biology, 1995
Tetraploid mouse embryos were produced by electrofusion at the 2-cell stage, cultured overnight, and aggregated with normal diploid embryos to produce tetraploiddiploid (4n2n) chimaeric conceptuses. At 7 1/2 days the 4n2n chimaeras were usually smaller and developmentally retarded compared to control diploiddiploid chimaeras.

Effect of polyploidization on morphology in two apple (Malus × domestica) genotypes

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2017
Because polyploidy often results in enhancement of desirable properties, artificial genome doubling is commonly used in agri- and horticultural crop breeding programs. In this study genome doubling was induced in two apple genotypes.

Phenotypic characterization, plant growth and development, genome methylation, and mineral elements composition of neotetraploid lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Stable neotetraploid lines of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) were produced from three phenotypically distinct cultivars (Annapolis, Eruption, Merlot) and an advanced breeding line (SM13-L2) using colchicine treatment of seeds or young seedlings. When tested

TETRAPLOID FEMALES IN MORMONIELLA

open access: yesGenetics, 1969
IN the wild-type hymenopteron, Mormoniella, it has been shown that five atelomitic chromosomes are characteristic of the male and that unlaid eggs have five bivalents, indicating that normal diploid females have ten chromosomes (WHITING 1968). In the polyploid stocks, the diploid males, identified by complementary allelism, have ten chromosomes ...

Assessing Ploidy Level Analysis and Single Pollen Genotyping of Diploid and Euploid Citrus Genotypes by Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting and Whole-Genome Amplification

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Flow cytometry is widely used to determine genome size and ploidy level in plants. This technique, when coupled with fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), whole genome amplification and genotyping (WGA), opens up new opportunities for genetic ...

A comparative study on rooting of in vitro regenerated shoots in haploid, diploid and tetraploid purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea L.)

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2016
Haploid, diploid and tetraploid shoots of Echinacea purpurea L. sharing the same genome were cultured in medium and their rooting response to the composition of the culture medium was investigated.
