Polyploidy and b chromosomes in Alium flavum from Serbia [PDF]
The most intriguing karyological features of the genus Allium are polyploidy and the frequent appearance of supernumerary or B chromosomes (Bs). Specimens of Allium flavum from natural populations at the Gornjačka Gorge in the vicinity of Gornjak ...

Transcriptional network underpinning ploidy-related elevated leaf potassium in neo-tetraploids [PDF]
Whole-genome duplication generates a tetraploid from a diploid. Newly created tetraploids (neo-tetraploids) of Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) have elevated leaf potassium (K), compared to their diploid progenitor.

Tetraploid development in the mouse [PDF]
AbstractSpontaneous duplication of the mammalian genome occurs in approximately 1% of fertilizations. Although one or more whole genome duplications are believed to have influenced vertebrate evolution, polyploidy of contemporary mammals is generally incompatible with normal development and function of all but a few tissues.

Breeding-oriented evaluation of the progeny of cv. ‘Papirovka tetraploidnaya’ in the Middle Urals
One of the most promising trends in apple breeding is polyploidy. Triploid cultivars show higher fruiting stability and increased self-fertility. The easiest way to obtain triploids is to cross diploid and tetraploid cultivars among themselves.

Introgression of A- and B-genome of tetraploid triticale chromatin into tetraploid rye [PDF]
An improvement of rye is one of the mainstream goals of current breeding. Our study is concerned with the introduction of the tetraploid triticale (ABRR) into the 4x rye (RRRR) using classical methods of distant crossing. One hundred fifty BC1F9 hybrid plants [(4x rye × 4x triticales) × 4x rye] obtained from a backcrossing program were studied.

Induction and characterization of tetraploids in Chinese Privet (Ligustrum sinense Lour.)
Invasive plant species are a global issue impacting many local ecosystems and economies in the world. A large number of invasive plants were originally introduced as ornamentals.

In Vitro Polyploidization of Thymus vulgaris L. and Its Effect on Composition of Essential Oils
The aim of this work was to find an effective protocol for in vitro propagation and to perform the in vitro polyploidization of diploid Thymus vulgaris (2n = 30) using two experimental methods based on the use of oryzalin, an antimitotic agent.

Probabilistic Multilocus Haplotype Reconstruction in Outcrossing Tetraploids
For both plant (e.g., potato) and animal (e.g., salmon) species, unveiling the genetic architecture of complex traits is key tothe genetic improvement of polyploids in agriculture.
