Printed Sensors on Textiles for Biomedical Applications
2013The respiratory rate is an important biomedical parameter to monitor human physical condition and investigate potential respiratory dysfunctions. The pulmonary plethysmography (PP) is a technique for measuring changes in tidal volume during the respiratory activity. The PP often requires intrusive and invasive devices that are not comfortable, as masks

Contactless EMG sensors embroidered onto textile
2007To obtain maximum unobtrusiveness with sensors for monitoring health parameters on the human body, two technical solutions are combined. First we propose contactless sensors for capacitive electromyography measurements. Secondly, the sensors are integrated into textile, so complete fusion with a wearable garment is enabled.

Piezoresistive sensors for smart textiles
SPIE Proceedings, 2007We have used inkjet printing to deposit silver conducting lines and small PEDOT (conducting polymer) sensors onto fabrics. The printed conductors penetrate into the fabric and can be shown to coat the individual fibers within the yarn, through the full thickness of the cloth.

Textile Antenna as Moisture Sensor
2020 14th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2020The paper proposes the application of a resonant textile antenna as moisture sensor. Two setups are discussed, the first considers the textile antenna used in transmission and the second considers only the reflection at the antenna input. Laboratory tests have been performed on both setups, showing that the second, reflection based, approach shows ...

Textile Impedentiometric Sensor for Gas Detection
Gas sensing has been drawing attention over the years in terms of environmental remediation and health diagnostic potential. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) qualitative/quantitative monitoring is indicative of air quality and people health status. However, VOC analysis is often performed by means of expensive and time-consuming lab-based equipment ...Silvia Casalinuovo +4 more
