High Humidity Exacerbates Psoriasiform Skin Disease Relapse by Increasing Tissue‐Resident Memory T Cells via Altering Skin Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

Engineering Osteoimmune Responses with Functionalized Orthopedic Implants for Post‐Operative Osteosarcoma Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with limited treatment options and a terrible prognosis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent development of osteoimmunomodulatory implants for post‐operative osteosarcoma treatment, of which the potential utility in evoking durable anti‐osteosarcoma immunity and accelerating bone

TGF-β signaling links E-cadherin loss to suppression of nucleotide excision repair. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
E-cadherin is a cell adhesion molecule best known for its function in suppressing tumor progression and metastasis. Here we show that E-cadherin promotes nucleotide excision repair through positively regulating the expression of xeroderma pigmentosum ...

BGN/MDK Axis in the Melanoma Tumor Microenvironment Strengthens Tumor Malignancy by Modulating Cancer Cells and Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that m6A regulators cooperatively upregulate BGN in melanoma, promoting malignancy. Within the tumor microenvironment, CAFs show highest BGN expression. The BGN/MDK axis mediates cancer‐stroma crosstalk, driving normal fibroblast (NF) activation and enhancing the pro‐tumor effect of CAFs, highlighting a promising therapeutic target ...

Latency-Associated Peptide Rapidly Upregulates Neuraminidase 3 in a Profibrotic Translation-Based Positive Feedback Loop

open access: yesCells
Fibrosis appears to be an out-of-control wound-healing response that drives a progressive formation of scar tissue in an organ. A key profibrotic cytokine, transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1), upregulates levels of the extracellular sialidase ...

The TGF-β1 Signaling Pathway as an Attractive Target in the Fibrosis Pathogenesis of Sjögren’s Syndrome

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2018
Transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) plays a crucial role in the induction of fibrosis, often associated with chronic phases of inflammatory diseases contributing to marked fibrotic changes that compromise normal organ function.

The Epigenetically-Regulated microRNA-378a Targets TGF-β2 in TGF-β1-Treated Hepatic Stellate Cells

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2016
Background/Aims: In liver fibrosis, the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) is considered as a pivotal event. It is well known that transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is the main stimuli factor responsible for HSC activation.

Hepatocyte PIEZO1 Negatively Regulates Lipogenesis and Ameliorates MASLD by Sensing Membrane Tension and Activating AMPK

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocytes are subjected to increased membrane tension along with lipid accumulation. Loss of PIEZO1 exacerbates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. Activation of PIEZO1 alleviates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. PIEZO1 negatively regulates de novo lipogenesis through activation of CaMKK2‐AMPK pathway. ABSTRACT Liver is a central organ for lipid

TGF-β1 Induces EMT in Bovine Mammary Epithelial Cells Through the TGFβ1/Smad Signaling Pathway

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2017
Background/Aims: Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) plays a crucial role in chronic inflammation in various tissues, and is related to inflammation-caused organ fibrogenesis associated with the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the ...
