Stochastic model for computer simulation of the number of cancer cells and lymphocytes in homogeneous sections of cancer tumors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We deal with a small enough tumor section to consider it homogeneous, such that populations of lymphocytes and cancer cells are independent of spatial coordinates. A stochastic model based in one step processes is developed to take into account natural birth and death rates.

HIV-Infected Subjects With Poor CD4 T-Cell Recovery Despite Effective Therapy Express High Levels of OX40 and α4β7 on CD4 T-Cells Prior Therapy Initiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background HIV-infected subjects with suboptimal CD4 restoration despite suppressive combined antiretroviral treatment (cART) (immunodiscordant subjects) have been classically characterized after a variable period of time under cART.

Comparative analysis of short‐term and long‐term LL‐37‐induced rosacea‐like mouse models: Histopathological features and inflammatory immune responses

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The aim of this study was to improve the long‐term LL‐37 mouse model and compare the disease manifestations and pathophysiology of short‐term and long‐term LL‐37‐induced rosacea‐like models. The results show that the long‐term LL‐37 induced mouse model provides a practical animal model for further study of the pathological mechanism of severe rosacea ...

NEW ASPECTS OF ANTI-INFECTION IMMUNITY

open access: yesИнфекция и иммунитет, 2014
. Four types of adaptive immune response which are regulated by different T-cell populations, namely Th1, Th2, Th17 and T regs have been described.

Neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte and monocyte‐to‐lymphocyte ratios as inflammatory markers in the assessment of glycemic status in diabetic patients of Asir region

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and monocyte‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (MLR) were investigated as potential markers. A total of 3545 subjects were included in the analysis retrospectively. Adult men and women with impaired glucose metabolism were assessed. NLR and MLR may help assess inflammation in individuals with impaired glucose metabolism. Abstract

Increased NHC Cells in the Peritoneal Cavity of Plasmacytoma Susceptible BALB/c Mouse

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2015
BALB/c strain mice are unique in that they develop murine plasmacytoma (MPC) as a consequence of the inflammation induced by pristane oil injection in the peritoneal cavity.

Differential inflammatory response to Helicobacter pylori infection: etiology and clinical outcomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The bacterial pathogen Helicobacter pylori commonly colonizes the human gastric mucosa during early childhood and persists throughout life. The organism has evolved multiple mechanisms for evading clearance by the immune system and, despite inducing ...

Mapping Molecular Pathways of Multiple Sclerosis: A Gene Prioritization and Network Analysis of White Matter Pathology Transcriptomics

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objectives Rapid advances in transcriptomics have driven efforts to identify deregulated pathways in multiple sclerosis (MS) tissues, though many detected differentially expressed genes are likely false positives, with only a small fraction reflecting actual pathological events. Robust, integrative methods are essential for accurately understanding the

Proteomic and epigenomic markers of sepsis-induced delirium (SID) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In elderly population sepsis is one of the leading causes of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions in the United States. Sepsis-induced delirium (SID) is the most frequent cause of delirium in ICU (Martin et al., 2010). Together delirium and SID represent

Functional Synovium‐Based 3D Models in the Context of Human Disease and Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
The synovium is key to joint function but is often affected by diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. Finding better treatments is challenging because current lab models do not fully mimic real tissues. New 3D technologies, like bioprinting, offer better methods to study these diseases, improve drug testing, and develop personalized treatments, bringing ...
