Study on KOA chronic knee pain patients shows GABRB3 rs4906902 polymorphism influences acupuncture analgesic efficacy, related to gray matter volume and gene expression in pain‐modulating brain regions. ABSTRACT The mechanisms underlying individual variability in acupuncture analgesia among patients with chronic pain remain unclear.

A joint ICA (jICA)‐based “dynamic fusion” framework to identify dynamically tuned SNP manifolds by linking static SNPs to dynamic functional information of the brain. ABSTRACT Many mental disorders show strong genetic influence. In parallel, dynamic functional network connectivity (dFNC) has shown high sensitivity to brain changes related to mental ...

Thalamic nuclei degeneration in multiple sclerosis
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2021To define both the severity and extent of structural alteration in certain thalamic nuclei by means of MR morphometry and to compare these findings with clinical performance in different phenotypes of multiple sclerosis (MS).We comparatively measured the thalamus nuclei volumes of patients with remitting-relapsing (RRMS) and secondary-progressive (SPMS)

Neurochemistry of the Anterior Thalamic Nuclei [PDF]
This paper reviews the distribution of several bioactive substances and their possible physiological roles in the anterior thalamic nuclei of various species, with a special emphasis on the rat. The anterior thalamus is a part of extended hippocampal system and its significance for learning and memory processes is well known.

Responses of 92 neurons of the reticular (R) and 105 neurons of the ventral anterior (VA) thalamic nuclei to stimulation of the ventrobasal complex (VB) and the lateral (GL) and medial (GM) geniculate bodies were investigated in cats immobilized with D-tobocurarine.

Coincident with the involution of the interthalamic bridging gray matter in man, the number of constant midline nuclei are reduced in comparison with lower forms (Sheps, 1945; Feremutsche and Simma, 1953). The development of the massa intermedia varies and it may be absent in about a quarter of the population (Kuhlenbeck, 1954).

Thalamic nuclei in the opossum Monodelphis domestica
Journal of Chemical Neuroanatomy, 2008We investigated nuclear divisions of the thalamus in the gray short-tailed opossum (Monodelphis domestica) to gain detailed information for further developmental and comparative studies. Nissl and myelin staining, histochemistry for acetylcholinesterase and immunohistochemistry for calretinin and parvalbumin were performed on parallel series of ...
