EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF THE RATES OF NUCLEATION AND OF GROWTH OF PHASE TRANSFORMATION CENTERS

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2016
The processes of granulation by crystallization of molten droplets in the flow of a cooling agent (prilling) and on the cooled surfaces of the granulators are widely used in the chemical and allied industries. The process of granulation (crystallization)

Nanostructural theory of metal melts. Foundry production and metallurgy

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2020
It has been shown that atomic and atomic cluster theories cannot be the basis for theories of crystallization and modification of metals and alloys. Based on thermodynamic calculations, a nanostructural theory of metal melts has been developed.

fDETECT webserver: fast predictor of propensity for protein production, purification, and crystallization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Development of predictors of propensity of protein sequences for successful crystallization has been actively pursued for over a decade. A few novel methods that expanded the scope of these predictions to address additional steps of protein ...

Crystallization of the Lewis-Wahnstr\"{o}m ortho-terphenyl model

open access: yes, 2010
Crystallization is observed during long molecular dynamics simulations of bent trimers, a molecular model proposed by Lewis and Wahnstr\"{o}m for ortho-terphenyl.

The structural organization and protein composition of lens fiber junctions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The structural organization and protein composition of lens fiber junctions isolated from adult bovine and calf lenses were studied using combined electron microscopy, immunolocalization with monoclonal and polyclonal anti-MIP and anti-MP70 (two putative

ANISOTROPY OF THE SURFACE OF CUBIC BODY-CENTERED CRYSTAL LATTICES

open access: yesEurasian Physical Technical Journal, 2021
In the work of Shebzukhova and Arefieva, by the method of electronic-statistical calculation of the anisotropy of the surface energy of metals, a method for estimating the work function of electrons from a metal was determined. The surface energy and electron work function of four main faces of cadmium and zinc crystals and five faces of mercury are ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Effects of Si solute on the glass formation and atomic structure of Pd liquid

open access: yes, 2018
Molecular dynamics simulations were performed to study the effects of Si solute on the glass formation and crystallization of Pd liquid. Pure Pd sample prepared by quenching process with cooling rate of $10^{13}$ K/s can be in an amorphous state but the ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Controlled growth of CH$_3$NH$_3$PbI$_3$ nanowires in arrays of open nanofluidic channels

open access: yes, 2016
Spatial positioning of nanocrystal building blocks on a solid surface is a prerequisite for assembling individual nanoparticles into functional devices. Here, we report on the graphoepitaxial liquid-solid growth of nanowires of the photovoltaic compound ...
