This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Mechanisms of influence of modifiers on crystallization of tin and aluminium bronzes
It has been shown that elementary crystalline cells of α‑phases of tin, aluminum bronzes and main modifying phases do not correspond to the principle of structural and dimensional correspondence of Dankov‑Konobeevsky.

Highly-crystallized quaternary chalcopyrite nanocrystals via a high-temperature dissolution–reprecipitation route [PDF]
Quaternary chalcopyrite (Cu2CoSnS4, Cu2ZnSnS4) nanocrystals displaying high crystallization and controlled morphology were synthesized via a high-temperature growth regime achieved by dissolution–reprecipitation of tailored ultrafine precursors in the ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

NANOSTRUCTURAL PROCESSES AT MELTING AND MOULDING OF SILUMINS
The existing theories of liquid state, crystallization and modifying don’t allow determining nanostructural physical and chemical mechanisms of melting and casting of silumins.

Glass Ceramic with Improved Structure and Properties Made with Wastes from FeNi Production
Hazardous residues from ferronickel production are vitrified. The optimum thermal regime for the conversion of the resulting glass into glass-ceramics is estimated by rapid alternative methods: the nucleation step is valued by DTA, and the ...

Confined colloidal crystals in and out of equilibrium
Recent studies on confined crystals of charged colloidal particles are reviewed, both in equilibrium and out of equilibrium. We focus in particular on direct comparisons of experiments (light scattering and microscopy) with lattice sum calculations and ...
