Phase, microstructure and service character of as-deposited and short-time heat-treated Ni-Mo alloys with mixed state.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Considering the amorphous and nano-crystalline cluster structure and their activity, on the basis of the mixed structure Ni-Mo alloys, the crystallization kinetics of the alloys and the performance of the alloys after heat treatment with different mixed ...

Face-Centered Cubic Crystallization of Atomistic Configurations [PDF]

open access: yesArchive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 2015
We address the question of whether three-dimensional crystals are minimizers of classical many-body energies. This problem is of conceptual relevance as it presents a significant milestone towards understanding, on the atomistic level, phenomena such as melting or plastic behavior.

Partial crystallization of mid-ocean ridge basalts in the crust and mantle

open access: yes, 2004
Pressures at which partial crystallization occurs for mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORB) have been examined by a new petrological method that is based on a parameterization of experimental data in the form of projections.

Crystallization of GeO2 thin films into α-quartz:From spherulites to single crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Piezoelectric quartz (SiO2) crystals are widely used in industry as oscillators. As a natural mineral, quartz and its relevant silicates are also of interest in geoscience and mineralogy.

Scientific problem of modifying of primary crystals a -phase of silumin castings. Solutions

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2019
It is shown that intermetallic metals of the modifying ligatures are not the crystallization centers of primary crystals of a a-phase. As the main demodifier serves hydrogen dissolved in liquid silumin.

Nanostructural theory of metal melts. Foundry production and metallurgy

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2020
It has been shown that atomic and atomic cluster theories cannot be the basis for theories of crystallization and modification of metals and alloys. Based on thermodynamic calculations, a nanostructural theory of metal melts has been developed.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.
