NANOSTRUCTURIZATION IN FOUNDRY PROCESSES
It is shown that at crystallization of alloys the sophisticated nanostructural processes have place. The nanocrystals of phases, their atoms, the centers of crystallization of dendrites, surface-active elements, gases, modifying elements, poorly soluble ...

Structural evolution of microfibers in seawater and freshwater under simulated sunlight: A small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering study. [PDF]
Microfibers are pollutants of increasing concern, as they accumulate in aquatic environments and pose risks to living organisms. Once released, they undergo degradation processes that reduce their size and enhance their ability to interact with ...

MAPLE Processed Nanostructures for Antimicrobial Coatings
Despite their great benefits for debilitated patients, indwelling devices are prone to become easily colonized by resident and opportunistic microorganisms, which have the ability to attach to their surfaces and form highly specialized communities called biofilms.

Nanostructural phase transformations in eutectoid reactions of binary alloys
It is shown that eutectoid reactions of binary alloys are nanostructural processes. The main phase, which decays during the eutectoid reaction, is formed during the crystallization of a metal melt of eutectoid composition. This process is nanostructured.

Object kinetic Monte Carlo study of the effect of grain boundaries in martensitic Fe-Cr-C alloys [PDF]
Fe-Cr-C alloys with chromium concentrations in the range from similar to 2 to 12 wt.% form ferritic-martensitic structures by rapid cooling from the austenite state already in the presence of relatively low carbon concentrations.

ALUMINIUM BRONZE. NANOSTRUCTURAL PROCESSES OF MELTING AND MOULDING
It is shown that melting and molding of aluminum bronze are difficult physical and chemical processes. In them the major role is played by the centers of crystallization of dendrites of a a-phase, the a-phase nanocrystals dissolved and the adsorbed ...

Mechanisms of modification of magnesium– manganese alloys
It is shown that the main modifying phases cannot serve as centers of crystallization of α‑phase microcrystals during solidification of magnesium‑manganese alloys. The superheating modification of these alloys is an adsorption‑nanostructural process.

Nanoscopic processes of Current Induced Switching in thin tunnel junctions [PDF]
In magnetic nanostructures one usually uses a magnetic field to commute between two resistance (R) states. A less common but technologically more interesting alternative to achieve R-switching is to use an electrical current, preferably of low intensity.
