Introducing the DREAMS Project: DaRk mattEr and Astrophysics with Machine Learning and Simulations
We introduce the DaRk mattEr and Astrophysics with Machine learning and Simulations (DREAMS) project, an innovative approach to understanding the astrophysical implications of alternative dark matter (DM) models and their effects on galaxy formation and ...

Modeling the Milky Way wind: Supernova-driven outflows accelerate HI clouds near the Galactic center
Multiwavelength observations, from radio to X-rays, have revealed the presence of multiphase high-velocity gas near the center of the Milky Way likely associated with powerful galactic outflows. This region offers a unique laboratory to study the physics

Atomic responses to general dark matter-electron interactions
In the leading paradigm of modern cosmology, about 80% of our Universe's matter content is in the form of hypothetical, as yet undetected particles. These do not emit or absorb radiation at any observable wavelengths, and therefore constitute the so ...

A substantial fraction of stars can be found in wide binaries with projected separations between ∼10 ^2 and 10 ^5 au. In the standard lore of binary physics, these would evolve as effectively single stars that remotely orbit one another on stationary ...

ABSTRACT We present the new ARTEMIS emulator suite of high-resolution (baryon mass of 2.23 × 104h−1 M⊙) zoom-in simulations of Milky Way-mass systems. Here, three haloes from the original ARTEMIS sample have been rerun multiple times, systematically varying parameters for the stellar feedback model, the density threshold for star ...

Cosmology with large redshift surveys
Galaxy redshift surveys are a major tool to address the most challenging cosmological problems facing cosmology, like the nature of dark energy and properties dark matter.

Optical Diversity and Nanostructural Organization in the Colored Scales of Sternotomis
Vivid colors in Sternotomis beetles originate from nanoscale photonic architectures embedded within individual scales. Here, we provide a comparative optical and structural analysis of 57 scale types that reveal how ordered, quasi‐ordered, and disordered 3D networks tune color, saturation, and angular response.

We introduce a new suite of 1,024 cosmological and hydrodynamical zoom-in simulations of Milky Way-mass halos, run with Cold Dark Matter, as part of the DREAMS Project. Each simulation in the suite has a unique set of initial conditions and combination of cosmological and astrophysical parameters.

Ultra-fine dark matter structure in the Solar neighbourhood
The direct detection of dark matter on Earth depends crucially on its density and its velocity distribution on a milliparsec scale. Conventional N-body simulations are unable to access this scale, making the development of other approaches necessary.
