Spectrofluorimetric determination of thebaine
Mikrochimica Acta, 1975A method has been developed for the determination of morphine hydrochloride, codeine, papaverine, narcotine and thebaine in mixtures, by measurement of the native fluorescence of the first four components, the fluorescence of the apomorphine obtained by oxidation of morphine, and the fluorescence of the hydrolysis products obtained by heating thebaine ...

Thebain?

The nitration of thebaine with tetranitromethane
Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 1981Thebaine (1) reacts in methanol with tetranitromethane to give, as the major product, 14β-nitrocodeinone dimethyl acetal (2a), which has been converted into, inter alia, 14β-nitrocodeinone (3a), 14β-aminocodeinone dimethyl acetal (2b), 14β-aminocodeinone (3b), and 14β-aminocodeine.

Cyclo-adducts of thebaine with nitrosoarenes
Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 1979Thebaine (1) reacts reversibly with various nitroso-arenes to form cyclo-adducts by 1,4-addition of the nitrosogroup to the conjugated diene system of the alkaloid. Adducts (2) of thebaine with nitrosobenzene and with 4-chloro-, 4-methyl-, 3-methoxy-, and 4-nitro-nitrosobenzene have been prepared in good yield.

The Analyst, 1984
The determination of the thebaine content of crude thebaine concentrates by infrared and ultraviolet spectrophotometric methods is described. The results obtained with the two methods were found to compare favourably. The accuracy of these procedures was found to be superior to that of the K–34 (U.N.) method.

The pharmacology of thebaine in the chronic spinal dog
Drug and Alcohol Dependence, 1978The effects of thebaine were studied in nondependent and morphine-dependent chronic spinal dogs as well as in chronic spinal dogs receiving thebaine chronically. Thebaine did not produce any morphine-like effects in nondependent dogs nor did it precipitate an abstinence syndrome in morphine-dependent dogs.
