The colour matrix at next-to-leading-colour accuracy for tree-level multi-parton processes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We investigate the next-to-leading-colour (NLC) contributions to the colour matrix in the fundamental and the colour-flow decompositions for tree-level processes with all gluons, one quark pair and two quark pairs. By analytical examination of the colour

On the challenges of searching for GeV-scale long-lived particles at the LHC

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Many models of dark matter predict long-lived particles (LLPs) that can give rise to striking signatures at the LHC. Existing searches for displaced vertices are however tailored towards heavy LLPs.

Dai-Freed anomalies in particle physics

open access: yes, 2019
Anomalies can be elegantly analyzed by means of the Dai-Freed theorem. In this framework it is natural to consider a refinement of traditional anomaly cancellation conditions, which sometimes leads to nontrivial extra constraints in the fermion spectrum.

Autoencoders for unsupervised anomaly detection in high energy physics

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Autoencoders are widely used in machine learning applications, in particular for anomaly detection. Hence, they have been introduced in high energy physics as a promising tool for model-independent new physics searches.

Review of Particle Physics, 2020-2021 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceThe Review summarizes much of particle physics and cosmology. Using data from previous editions, plus 3,324 new measurements from 878 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons and the recently ...

Electroweak corrections to the angular coefficients in finite- $$p_T$$ p T Z-boson production and dilepton decay

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2020
We present next-to-leading order (NLO) electroweak corrections to the dominant five angular coefficients parametrizing the Drell–Yan process in the Z-boson mass peak range for finite- $$p_T$$ p T vector boson production.

Contribution of third generation quarks to two-loop helicity amplitudes for W boson pair production in gluon fusion

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We compute the contribution of third generation quarks (t, b) to the two-loop amplitude for on-shell W boson pair production in gluon fusion gg → WW.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Philosophical perspectives on ad hoc-hypotheses and the Higgs mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We examine physicists' charge of adhocness against the Higgs mechanism in the Standard Model of elementary particle physics. We argue that even though this charge never rested on a clear-cut and well-entrenched definition of "ad hoc", it is based on ...
