General linguistics and Indo-European reconstruction [PDF]
There is good reason to be ambivalent about the usefulness of general considerations in linguistic reconstruction. As a heuristic device, a theoretical framework can certainly be helpful, but the negative potential of aprioristic considerations must not ...

Schr\"odinger equation solved for the hydrogen molecule with unprecedented accuracy
The hydrogen molecule can be used for determination of physical constants and for improved tests of the hypothetical long range force between hadrons, which requires a sufficiently accurate knowledge of the molecular levels.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

This article attempts to show that the doctrine of the impossibility of total error (DIET) is one of the main presuppositions of Kant's moral thought and not just of his theoretical thought.

Properties of phase transitions of higher order
There is only limited experimental evidence for the existence in nature of phase transitions of Ehrenfest order greater than two. However, there is no physical reason for their non-existence, and such transitions certainly exist in a number of ...
