First record of intersexuality in walleye pollock Theragra chalcogramma (Pallas, 1814)

open access: yesMarine Biodiversity Records, 2015
We report the first record of intersexuality in walleye pollockTheragra chalcogramma(Pallas, 1814) caught in the Bering and Okhotsk seas. Prevalence of intersexuality was low (0.0003–0.0016%). We describe intersex gonads at the macro- and microscopic levels (using histological methods).

Observation on morphological structure of the early development of Theragra chalcogramma

open access: yesJournal of Fisheries of China, 2012
The embryonic development pattern of walleye pollock and the morphological characteristics of fertilized eggs were observed and recorded from October to December in 2008.The egg diameters in six stages were measured and the egg envelopes of seven stages were also studied with scanning electron microscopy. The egg of walleye pollock was pelagic, without ...

Prey-predator interactions of walleye pollock Theragra chalcogramma and water temperature.

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1988
The influence of water temperatures on prey-predator interaction of walleye pollock was ex-amined in the eastern Bering Sea during summers from 1979 to 1984. Walleye pollock was parti-tioned into 18 categories by sex and body lengths. The common occurrence of Greenland turbot, arrowtooth flounder, Pacific halibut, flathead sole, large Pacific cod ...

Wide spatial distribution of spawning grounds and their great environmental differentiation potentially supports higher effectiveness of reproduction. This biological phenomenon is one of the reasons of annually abundant recruitment of the eastern Bering Sea pollock. In opposite, the spatial distribution and physical diversity of the western Bering Sea

Theragra chalcogramma (Pallas) (Gadidae)

Individual fecundity of Walleye pollock, inhabiting in the eastern Okhotsk Sea, increases with length. It depends on total and generation abundance and varies from year to year. Population fecundity depends on mature fish length, age composition, and individual fecundity dynamics.

(Theragra chalcogramma)

The eggs of walleye pollock collected in the waters of eastern Kamchatka were incubated under temperature 3.0 °С and 1.5 °С. Time of embryogenesis from fertilization to 50 % emergence of the eggs was 19 days in the first case and 23 days in the second one.
