TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

An oxide thermal rectifier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We have experimentally demonstrated thermal rectification as bulk effect. According to a theoretical design of a thermal rectifier, we have prepared an oxide thermal rectifier made of two cobalt oxides with different thermal conductivities, and have made an experimental system to detect the thermal rectification.

Asymmetric Heat Transfer with Linear Conductive Metamaterials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Asymmetric heat transfer systems, often referred to as thermal diodes or thermal rectifiers, have garnered increasing interest due to their wide range of application possibilities. Most of those previous macroscopic thermal diodes either resort to nonlinear thermal conductivities with strong temperature dependence that may be quite limited by or fixed ...

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

Universality and classification of elementary thermal operations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Elementary thermal operations are thermal operations that act non-trivially on at most two energy levels of a system at the same time. They were recently introduced in order to bring thermal operations closer to experimental feasibility. A key question to address is whether any thermal operation could be realized via elementary ones, that is, whether ...

Therapeutic applications of a novel humanized monoclonal antibody targeting chemokine receptor CCR9 in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
C–C chemokine receptor type 9 (CCR9) is an immune checkpoint in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Novel anti‐CCR9 antibody SRB2 was evaluated in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy in PDAC cells, patient‐derived organoids, patient‐derived xenografts, and humanized mouse models.
