Validation of data analysis routines for a thermal probe apparatus using numerical data sets
Most thermal properties of construction materials used in the analysis of building performance have been measured under laboratory conditions, using a guarded hot box or hot plate apparatus. As a consequence, these properties seldom reflect the impact of

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Transformer Core Saturation Fault Analysis using Current Sensor Signals and Thermal Image Features
Transformer faults are identified and classified using current sensor signals. Transformer core saturation detection is challenging using current sensor signals due to overlapping of load-based faults such as overload, short circuit, grounding faults ...

Application of thermal analysis to material science
S.455-465Thermoanalytical methods are used for investigation of outgassing and sintering of hardmetals. Shrinkage (DILA), mass loss (TG), gas evolution (EGA - mass spectrometry) and thermal effects (DSC) allow to describe sintering processes. The results

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Long-term urban microgrid design: Socio-spatial resilience to promote energy democracy
This research article argues that long-term considerations for sociotechnical resilience in urban microgrid design should include socio-spatial dimensions and energy democracy as key concepts. Referring to Otto Neurath and ‘Red Vienna’ of the 1920s this

Synthesis, crystal structure, and thermal stability of double borate Na3ErB2O6
Double borate Na3ErB2O6 was synthesized by the solid-state reaction. The crystal structure of Na3ErB2O6 was refined by the Rietveld method: P21/c, a = 6.49775(14) Å, b = 8.50424(17) Å, c = 12.0067(3) Å, β = 118.4797(9)°, Z = 4.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
