Now in paperback, this text introduces the theoretical framework for describing the quark-gluon plasma, an important new state of matter. The first part of this book is a self-contained introduction to relativistic thermal field theory. Topics include the path integral approach, the real and the imaginary time formalisms, fermion fields and gauge ...

During last few years, there has been a lot of interest in various phenomena at finite temperature, in quantum field theories. These include the early universe cosmology [1,2], astrophysics of compact stars [3] as well as the experimental programs in relativistic heavy-ion collisions in the context of quark gluon plasma (QGP) [4].

Thermal Aspects in Quantum Field Theory
Annales Henri Poincaré, 2003Thermal (or “KMS”) states as well as ground states are characterized by analyticity properties in the (complexified) time variable. Such a characterization is applied to the quantum field theoretical systems on Minkowski, de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spacetimes.

Abstract After a review of the calculational approaches, the free energy of scalar particles in thermal equilibrium is calculated. The IR behaviour of mass-less scalar fields is examined, finding that a resummation of IR divergent terms is necessary.

Rules for diagrams in thermal field theories
Physical Review D, 1994Sets of rules are proposed that allow one to write down the amplitude associated with a diagram at temperature [ital T], once the energy running around each loop has been summed over, in the imaginary-time formalism. Alternative forms are given: one is based on tree diagrams, another one on possible intermediate states.

Dissipative thermal field theory and renormalization
Annals of Physics, 1990Abstract Using methods of thermo field dynamics we develop a perturbation and renormalization procedure for thermally dissipative quantum fields. We emphasize the need to construct dissipative asymptotic fields and to treat the dissipation self consistently.
